YouTube Coming To An End?

Will YouTubers be out of a job?

YouTube Coming To An End?

I have been watching YouTube since I was like 10 years old. It has become a part of my daily routine. But hearing about the new rules and regulations and how a lot of YouTubers are having their ads on their videos taken down and they aren’t making any money on their videos is devastating and very scary. YouTubers everywhere are terrified for their careers.

Youtube has made more rules and regulations of what you are not allowed to have in your videos. The content YouTube won't monetize includes:

  • Sexually suggestive content, including partial nudity and sexual humor
  • Violence, including display of serious harassment, profanity and vulgar language
  • Promotion of drugs and regulated substances, including selling, use and abuse of such items
  • Controversial or sensitive subjects and events, including subjects related to war, political conflicts, natural disaster and tragedies, even if graphic imagery is not shown.

Because these topics are so broad, it makes it easier for YouTube to easily remove ad pay or remove the entire video if they believe it breaks any of these rules. This to me doesn’t make any sense. Some peoples entire content of their channel contains controversial news such as Philip DeFranco and BuckHollywood. If this keeps up, both those channels and many more will not be able to post videos anymore because they won’t have the funding to do so and they will be out of a job.

Philip DeFranco has actually already been having the ads taken off of his videos. He did make a few videos about the situation recently and he tried to get an interview with someone working for YouTube to verify some information. Even though nobody would agree to an interview, YouTube responded by saying “While our policy of demonetizing videos due to advertiser-friendly concerns hasn’t changed, we’ve recently improved the notification and appeal process to ensure better communication.” Philip said in one of his videos about this that before, YouTube would not tell you when your video was demonetized. But now they are openly stating it to the YouTuber which is making them angry and very concerned. Channels are even being hit with demonetizing for talking about depression and even acne.

One of my favorite YouTubers to watch is Shane Dawson. He brightens my mood when I am down and just makes my day great after I watch his videos. But what concerns me extremely is that because YouTube is demonetizing videos that have any of the things in the list above, they are probably demonetizing most of Shane’s videos or they will if they haven’t already. Almost all if not all of his videos have some sort of sexual content and sexual humor in it, all of his videos contain vulgar language, and he has a few segments on his channel that talk about recent events, controversial topics, sensitive subjects and events and some even show graphic imagery. But those are all the reasons why millions of people love watching him every day. If YouTube demonetizes all of his videos, he might not be able to make content because he won’t have the money for it.

I believe that YouTube should make their list more detailed of what they don’t want in videos. The list they have now is way too broad which is making it easier to demonetize so many videos. Also I think they should be more lenient about the videos that are posted. If YouTube starts demonetizing a ton of channels and channels won’t be able to post content anymore, YouTube will probably stop being as popular as it is now. I love YouTube but I really hope they fix this issue.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
