As we get older, we grow out of things. Whether it's clothes, tastes, or even friends, we grow up. However, there are some things from our childhood that we never grow out of. One of those things is Halloween. It was fun as a child, and it gets even more exciting the older you get. However, adults tell you that trick or treating is just for kids, and we need to grow up. What they don't realize is that it is still fun for us, even as teenagers. It's an exciting time of the year, and we look forward to it every year. Some of the best parts of Halloween are:

1. Candy.

There isn't a person alive that doesn't like at least one kind of candy. Then there's the group of people that love all kinds of candy. Halloween allows us to get free candy. How do you outgrow something like that?! I am almost 20 years old, and I still love candy. If you are addicted to sugar, then go out on Halloween and get yourself some free candy.

2. Carving Jack'o'lanterns.

It's a slimy, gooey mess, but it is a tradition. When you were a kid, you probably did it with your parents. As a teenager, you started to do it by yourself. You can make whatever kind of jack'o'lantern you want, and it will still look cool. Jack'o'lanterns are a fun way to express yourself, while showing your holiday spirit. Even though I am 19 years old, I still love making jack'o'lanterns, and I do it every year.

3. Halloween costumes.

Little kids love to wear costumes. Well, so do teenagers and adults. Halloween is the one night of the year that you can dress up, and be whoever you want to be. Wearing costumes allows us to hold onto those amazing childhood memories, but it also allows us to make new, fun memories. While we may not be 'kids' anymore, we will always be kids at heart when it comes to Halloween.

4. Halloween parties.

Parties were fun as a kid, but as an adult, they're awesome. You meet new people who like to wear costumes just like you. There are fun foods, creepy games, and usually a hayride. No matter how many times you ride the hayride past the cemetery, you still get the chills every time.

Whether you're 12, 22, or 52, Halloween will always be fun. If you want to go trick or treating, go. It doesn't matter how old you are. You should be able to enjoy your favorite holiday, regardless of age. Celebrate Halloween, or any other holiday that makes you happy. Pick out what costume you want to wear, go trick or treating, go to a party, or whatever. Do what will make you happy this year. Happy Halloween everybody!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
