They say that New Jersey drivers are the most reckless drivers on the road. Coming from a New Jersey driver, I can tell you that this statement is very true. Yes, it can be scary driving around us, but I would not change a thing about the way we drive. Here is a list of things that should separate New Jersey drivers from the rest of the world.
1. Your biggest pet peeve is when a road has a speed limit of 25 MPH or less.
In New Jersey, the speed limits do not exist. When it says the speed limit in 25 MPH, it's really 45 MPH and so on. What's the point of having a speed limit if it's already too slow?
2. You have a severe case of road rage.
There is nothing worse than when some random person decides to cut you off or is driving too slow in front of you. What do you do to express your frustration? You either scream violently in your car or flip them off. Either works.
3. You have no idea how to pump your own gas.
Living in this state, we've had the privilege of never having to learn how to pump gas. When you stop at a gas station in another state, you watch other people pump their own gas and it looks like a piece of cake. But when it comes time to do it yourself, it is nothing short of rocket science.
4. Stop signs are just a suggestion.
Since everyone here is always in a rush, we don't have time to make a complete stop at stop signs. Just make sure you yield and look both ways before going and you should be good. Here is a motto to live by, NO COP, NO STOP.
5. You don't slow down for yellow lights.
You better believe when we're approaching a traffic light that suddenly turns yellow, we still continue to go the same speed as if it were a green light. There is not enough time in the day to stop and wait at a red light if we don't need to. After all, we're all in a rush for no reason.
