Picking out celebrities for our own "Celebrity Apprentice" Teams

16
You're Hired!

For some reason family dinners at the McKissack house always end in some strange competition that's related to the most recent TV show we all watched. These competitions range from what we would do with a "Chopped" style basket of the worst ingredients that we can think of, to who would your Amazing Race partner be. Well, thanks to The Celebrity Apprentice starting up a new season, the family conversation became "who would you want on your Celebrity Apprentice team?"

For those who aren't as familiar with the show, it is a bunch of celebrities teamed together to complete business related tasks to raise money for a charity of their choice. These challenges range from making jingles and accompanying videos to selling a product (usually food) in order to earn more money than The competing team. Each team has a different project leader per challenge, and this leader does their best to make their team a winner. Once the challenge is over, the teams meet up with the "boss," currently former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and he goes over how well the teams did in the eyes of the companies they are representing. It always ends with someone getting a huge sum of money for a charity and with someone else getting "terminated." There have been a crazy assortment of celebrities on this show, so it's always fun to figure out who you would believe to be the best and who will become the next apprentice.

The rules to choosing your team are simple: you can have a team of 6 including yourself, so you are picking 5 celebrities. These 5 must be from each of these categories: Actor, Music, Athlete, Reality TV, and Other. Keep in mind that we changed around the rules for Reality TV so it would include Late Night Shows like Jimmy Fallon and SNL.

Since each team is 5 celebrities, I decided to just share my sisters and I's lists because a list of 25 names with our reasons for picking them is a little excessive, so here we go!

My Team

Actor: Danielle Brooks

She is rocking the game right now with Orange is the New Black, and she just got a Tony Nomination for The Color Purple. So, if anyone could bring in some new money makers and could bring fresh ideas it would be Ms. Brooks.

Music: Sara Bareilles

Fresh off of her Tony nomination, Bareilles is perfect for Celebrity Apprentice. She has proven that she can adapt to any challenge, and her songwriting skills are unmatched, plus by helping be on the creative team for a Broadway musical, she has proven that she can play well with a team.

Athlete: Peyton Manning

He's a leader, but best of all, he's also the ultimate team player.

Reality TV: Kate McKinnon

Yet again, another person killing the game, she rocks it every Saturday night as one of the favorite cast members on SNL, and she is coming off of multiple movies in 2016. She's creative and can truly do anything, something that's perfect for this team.

Other: Oprah Winfrey- This choice is pretty self-explanatory, she has connections to literally everyone in the business and is extremely focused on philanthropy, and just think about it, no one in their right mind would fire Oprah.

Caroline's Team

Actor: Mindy Kaling

Well, she has faced a lot in her life and she keeps going, she has produced and written for a ton of shows. She's a strong woman and I would like her to be my best friend and I feel that this would be the best opportunity for us to become friends. Not to mention she is a very different type of celebrity and having her be a leader on this team would be a great thing for people to see and would do fantastic things for normalizing diversity.

Music: Taylor Swift

Hello! It's Taylor Swift. She's very empowering and has felt with a lot of negativity and has successfully changed it into something positive. She would have a lot of good resources for us to use, and she's a very smart business woman, seeing as she is very involved with every aspect of her brand as a whole. And she's a singer/songwriter, so jingles and musically based challenges would be a breeze.

Athlete: David Beckham

He's very good looking and a very good soccer player, so he was my athlete of choice. He'd be great for any advertising the team would need to do for a challenge, and he has a dreamy accent.

Reality TV: Jimmy Fallon

It's Jimmy Fallon, he's amazing, he's very polite (because ehe writes thank you letters every week). He is a great leader, something we've seen with him working on SNL and his own late night show. He's a great writer and is clearly very creative. Not to mention he's a fantastic host.

Other: Yolanda Hadid

From what I've witnessed she doesn't like getting into drama, so if there's a conflict she wouldn't like to beat around the bush and be very direct and would try and avoid any conflict that was not necessary for the team. And she has a very beautiful family that we could call upon at any minute, plus her daughter, Gigi is best friends with Kendall Jenner, so we would be able to get the Kardashian/Jenner clan to help us out.

Brittany's Team

Actor: Mark Wahlberg

He works well with a team, as seen by how he works with his brothers. Also He's Catholic meaning he and I have similar ideals.

Music: John Legend

He's super funny, but low key, and he makes amazing music and he is used to just going with the flow.

Athlete: Nastia Liukin

Well, I had to pick an athlete and I like her, she is very fashionable and did well with the commentary for the 2016 Rio Olympics, and as seen on her Instagram she is very good at marketing.

Reality TV: Chris Harrison

He's a genius, and his bachelor style commentary would be fantastic. Plus his job is to talk to large groups of people, and he, as we've seen on The Bachelor, is great at working with big personalities.

Other: Tim Gunn

Hello! He knows how to make anything work, he's worked in a lot of different ways, he's a motivational speaker, a mentor, and a producer. Not to mention he always voices opinion and is there to help make the project better any way he can.

So there you have it, my sisters and I's perfect teams for The Celebrity Apprentice. This was actually a very fun thing to figure out at the dinner table, so fun that it went on for an hour after everything was cleared up. So, if you want something fun to think and talk about, why not start drafting your Celebrity Apprentice team?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
