Your Must-Watch Summer Netflix Binge List
How to Binge Watch

So you're on Summer break and don't know what to do with yourself. What better time to start binge watching some shows on Netflix? But what to watch? We all know the struggle of trying to find your next show to binge so I'm here to help make that process easier for you. Here are my top 5 shows to binge watch:

Grace and Frankie

Grace and Frankie is one of those shows that I kept seeing the preview for but couldn't bring myself to watch because I thought it sounded ridiculous. It is. That's why I love it. The family dynamics and relationships that this show looks at are so interesting and crazy that you can't help but binge each season in a day or less. Each sesason is simply 13 half-hour episodes but they leave you begging for more. Grace and Frankie is one of the most unique shows that I've watched and I've enjoyed every minute of it.

Gilmore Girls

Let's all take a minute to say thank you to Netflix for reviving this classic. I'm counting down the days until I get to spend my hours watching new seasons in the life of the Gilmores! Until this last year, I had not watched a single episode of Gilmore Girls and I can't imagine my life without Rory and Lorelai. They are my mother and I to a tee and I can imagine that many other mothers and daughters relate as well. As they take on the world together they do it with a sense of innocence and wonder and hilarity. I make references to Gilmore Girls on the daily and this is one of my all time favorite shows.

House of Cards

House of Cards is intense and I could not put it down. I watched most of it over Spring Break and I can't even complain that i spent my break in Des Moines because I had House of Cards to get me through. I am a political junkie and this show totally blew me away. I had heard of HOC but never brought myself to watch it until one day I was scrolling through Netflix trying to determine my next show and I decided to watch one episode to see what the hype was all about. That one episode turned pretty quickly into an entire season and I have zero regrets for spending my spring break with the Underwoods.

Parenthood

Parenthood is a wave of emotions. One minute you're laughing so hard that you're in tears and the next you're crying so hard you can't breathe. It's a rollercoaster but it's one of those rollercoasters that you have to get in line again and again and again to keep riding. My roommate started watching Parenthood and I caught episodes here and there and decided that I had to start from the beginning. It was so incredibly well done and I can't tell you the number of times I cried watching this show. I could relate so well to this show and I'm only 22, I'm not even a parent but I can imagine that Parenthood hit the nail on the head.

The Blacklist

The Blacklist is one of those shows that I had heard about here and there and never really thought much of until I was searching for my next show for the summer and a friend suggested I watch it. I have not stopped. It is ridiculously intense and has a similar feel to Criminal Minds and White Collar (I can imagine, I have yet to actually watch White Collar) and each episode blows me away. The intensity and the relationships that we watch throughout the show fascinate me and I spend each episode trying to figure out the motive behind why Red brings Lizzie the case. It's incredible and I highly recommend bingeing it.

If I hadn't already spent so much time watching these shows I would definitely put them on my summer Netflix binge list. Check them out, you won't regret it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
