Your Realistic, New Daily Routine Now That Corona Endorsed Online School

The CoronaVirus is here and is not making a point to leave any time soon. More than 100 colleges have cancelled in-person classes for the remainder of the semester and that number keeps growing. Experts are saying that the US will soon have to follow in Italy's footsteps and mandate tight quarantines. Welp. Here's what your day in the life will most likely look like for the remainder of the semester if your school goes remote and your parents make you return to your hometown.

10:00 AM-- Wake up.

Lectures are recorded, powerpoint slides are being posted, there's still no way you'll actually wake up for your 8 AM even if you can attend it from your bed. Wake up to your siblings and parents fighting due to being trapped too close together. Check your phone. Text your friends about who has the virus in your community, check your emails for confusing professor and university updates, and go on TikTok because it's your only real form of entertainment. Wash your hands.

12:00 PM-- Lunch and (kinda) school.

Eat the same meal you had for lunch yesterday and dinner last night; frozen waffles, canned soup, or maybe cook some rice if you're trying to be fancy-- but remember nothing fresh nor perishable! After eating, buckle down for about two hours and get some work done. Submit a discussion post on Blackboard, take your time on an online exam, and while you're at it keep flipping back between your Google Docs tab and Twitter. Wash your hands.

3:00 PM-- Go on your phone some more.

Now that you got something done, you deserve a reward for your hard work. Pick at some Easter candy your family is now rationing and continue binging on every Netflix show. Maybe you'll facetime an old friend from highschool who lives down the street whom you are now reconnected with with help from the virus. Then, watch YouTube videos of how other people your age are dealing with the quarantine, continue working towards your goal of watching every comedian with a Netflix special, or make a TikTok to show people that you're alive. Thank God we at least have the internet, right? Wash your hands.

6:00 PM-- Same dinner, different day.

Pancakes for dinner, again. While you're at it, pay attention to the news even though it's probably been on your television all day. Wash your hands.

7:00 PM-- Summer’s still coming and your body has to be ready, whether Corona is here or not.

Do some crunches, lift different heavy objects around your house, and pace around your basement as forms of exercise. Take a shower and put all your clothes in the laundry, even if you just hung around in them all day. Then, just go on your phone again, because what. else. do. you. have! Wash your hands.

10:00 PM-- I guess just go to bed.

At this point, sleep is just a pastime, but at least you're finally getting enough of it!

Hopefully, this will not become a reality, but all the signs are pointing to the way that it may be, at least for a little while. Please do not panic and try to occupy yourself with little tasks during your days, and get your school work done! You want to get a degree whether Corona stays here or not so you might as well stay on track. Wash your hands!

Sorry, But 'I Don’t Care About Politics' Is Not A Valid Excuse For NOT Voting

The younger generation of voters is so crucial to the upcoming election because our vote is going to shape the world that we are about to enter as adults.


When I ask my friends if they are voting this term most of them respond with "no" followed by an explanation of "I don't care enough," "It doesn't affect me," or "I don't keep up with politics," etc. I get it, as a college student I know that there are many other things to be concerned about like school, relationships, work, and friends. I also understand that keeping up with politics can seem like trying to keep up with an over-exaggerated reality show that has way too many seasons. Not to mention most news stations and websites are biased so it's hard to decipher if what you hear is true or fake.

However, despite all of this annoyance, as the next generation of Americans, we have to remember that we owe it to ourselves, our families, and to our futures to care.
