Cardiknox This hip duo is a combination of electronic dance and 80's throwbacks mixed together. When I hear their hit song “Wild Child,” it takes me back to an intro of the ultimate 90’s chick flick. Their style is similar to Chvrches and Kiesza, where there’s always a sick beat in the background, with vocals that are extraordinary, especially in their new song “On My Way.” They’re coming out with a new album this month called Portrait, check it out!

Flatbush Zombies With a name that definitely makes you double-take, this band is for all the rap lovers out there. Their kind of music is like A$AP Rocky and Vince Staples, they don’t get caught up with a chorus that’s nothing like their song, they just keep the raps flowing. Definitely check out their song “Bounce” and listen to their new album, 3001: A Laced Odyssey, that will be released this month!

Redfoo What? Redfoo from LMFAO? Yup, he’s a solo artist now. Last year, he came out with his song, “New Thang,” that took over radio stations and college parties everywhere. He has stayed loyal to his LMFAO roots by making sure that all his song’s choruses are still ridiculously catchy, but with more of an EDM vibe this time. His album is coming out this month called Party Rock Mansion, try out “Lights Out” and “Party Train.”

The Wild Feathers Need a song to listen to when you’re driving to the beach? Listen to The Wild Feathers’s new song “Overnight.” Also need a song to listen to when you end up camping out at the beach and are craving the sound of soothing voices as you fall sleep? Listen to “Lonely is a Lifetime.” This band is a very versatile folk rock band, with similar sounds to Mumford & Sons. They have a new album coming up called Lonely is a Lifetime, and they will be at The Independent on April 7th.

Firekid This adorable man straight out of Nashville has been an expert guitarist since he was 11, and is rightfully taking the west coast by storm. Too much of a folk or country vibe is not particularly my taste, but “Lay by Me” and “Magic Mountain” still appeals to someone who loves pop music. His live album edition of his songs displays that has true raw talent.

Kaleo I got the same chills listening to Kaleo for the first time that I did when I initially listened to Hozier. JJ Julius Son, the lead singer, has a voice that feels like each word is giving you butterfly kisses on my cheek. Listen to their top songs “All the Pretty Girls” and “Way Down We Go.”
