Everything happens for a reason.
I am sure someone has told you this numerous times to make you feel better about something that did not go your way. But was it only to make you feel better? Does everything really happen for a reason? Yes, yes it does.
My mother always tells me that life's paths are already paved, the cards are already dealt; basically where you are headed in life is in the right direction. But how could I have believed these things during times of hardship? During all the times I just wanted to ask the world, why? Why do I not get the things that I deserve sometimes? Why do things happen that serve me no benefit when all I do is give the world everything I have?
Because better things are coming.
No matter what higher form of being you believe in, or if you just believe in the universe, I say that they have a plan for you. Things happen every day to bring you toward where you need to be. If you do not see it right now or have not in a while, just remember, life is a marathon and not a sprint. The best part about life is the journey, not the destination. Clearly when that destination is reached you will be happy, but sometimes that may take a while to get to.
With this, your path is always challenged. The amount of times I have gotten a maybe or a not yet from a school, job or sports team has only been the Big Man’s way of testing me. Here I have always had to remind myself that everything happens for a reason. One day you are going to look back on times like this of your own and say, if I never did this or that I may not have ended up here. Right now, in college and in New York City I have never believed this more. I have run into people, gotten to know others, and gotten to see things that have helped me walk a little further down my path. I mean, I have always wanted to be on Television and look where I have ended up.
Clearly this lesson should not cause you to think that everything you have ever wanted will come to you naturally. It will not. You have to work for it and give everything you got. Life, God, or whatever you may believe in is not just going to hand you the things you want in their raw form. It/they will hand you the necessary experiences and people that you will learn from in order to get to these things.
So in this I hope you take away these five things. One, everything you do and everywhere you go has a purpose. Two, just know that better things are always on their way. Three, slow down and try not to get things so quickly, good things take time. Four, be thankful for those things and people around you that have helped guide you along your path. Lastly, five, have faith and have fun. Life is too short to not be happy.
