As I groggily sat in my weather and climate class I thought about anything besides dew point temperature and radiation. I picked off my nail polish, thought about whether or not I wanted a salad for lunch, and debated on what homework I should start once this class ended. I wasn't really paying attention until my professor told us that Spring Break was only about 3 weeks away. I grabbed my planner as fast as I could out of my book bag and realized that he was right.
But, how could this be? We seriously had just gotten back from Winter Break what feels like a week ago. I got super excited at first. I was finally going to get to relax. Then I realized I have barely held up my end of my new year's resolution to eat healthily and hit the gym.
I have been eating more greens, I just haven't really made it to the gym. To be fair, I have been pretty busy. I'm not saying this is a great excuse. I know plenty of people who are just as busy as me or who are even busier who make it a great effort to workout daily. Just because I haven't been working out doesn't mean that I don't have a right to feel confident in the body I have.
Maybe Spring Break has crept up on you the way it has on me and pretty soon you'll be packing your bag to some tropical island with a bunch of bathing suits that you don't feel comfortable wearing. But, it's never too late to start. I'm not saying that you need to vigorously workout until you hop on a plane to Hawaii.
There's absolutely no point what-so-ever in feeling bad about yourself. Go on Spring Break and enjoy life no matter what you look like. Take pictures of yourself and don't analyze every inch of your body. Analyze the size of your smile and how happy you were in the moment. Do you really want to look back on your Spring Break adventure and only be able to remember how insecure you felt all week?
Be confident in your own skin, even if it feels impossible. I promise it can be done. Like I said, you can always start again once you get back to reality after break. No matter what shape or size you are, confidence is key. Confidence is what will make your life 10 times better.
Like Bobbi Brown said, "How I feel about myself is more important than how I look. Feeling confident, being comfortable in your own skin — that's what really makes you beautiful."
