Bryce Vine is an artist not known to millions of people, but he should be. A gem yet to be discovered, Bryce Vine is a lyrical, melodic genius often said to be the next Macklemore. Recently, his fan base has been steadily growing, and righteously so. His time to shine and break through into mainstream music is coming soon. So, let me introduce you to your new favorite artist: Bryce Vine.

Bryce Vine took to the music scene in 2013 with his first single, “Take Me Home.” This track embraced a lively, fun beat rightfully sung at the top of your lungs with all of your friends. This single also served as a small preview for the witty lines to come, featuring lines such as “I’m bad at science, but the chemistry’s clear.” If you ever want to try to convince someone to give you a chance, you might as well sing this poppy jewel to them.

From there, Bryce’s music only improved. The release of his first EP, Lazy Fair, featured catchy summers jams such as “Sour Patch Kids” and “Guilty Pleasure.” “Sour Patch Kids” made a bigger splash in the industry for Bryce. Not only is this his most well-known hit, but it is also one that you gladly will have stuck in your head for days. From lyrics that all 90’s kids can appreciate, to a melody that you’ll be singing at your day job, Bryce took on the spirit of a perfect jam in this incredibly catchy song. And if that isn’t enough for you, he even took the 90s' vibe to a whole new level with this killer music video:

Now, if you’re into catchy beats and lyrics about all of the times you’ve made stupid decisions in your life, Bryce Vine has you covered. “Guilty Pleasure” is all about those dumb decisions you’ve made, but if you’re anything like Bryce, you don’t care that they were bad decisions and you’d gladly do them all again. “All legends die young so we’ll live it how we want.”

After his first EP, Bryce wanted to fully embrace the term "indie rapper" and made a song about trying to be in the thug life. This is something that usually works for new rappers, but sadly it didn’t make do quite what Bryce hoped the song would. He sure did try though, and he did a damn good job at his attempt of “The Thug Song.” Bryce’s lyrical genius really shines through in this song, even if it is in the name of comedy relief. “This beat is sick, but when I spit I give it laryngitis.”

Bryce then took a few months off, but at the beginning of 2016, he fired up again, releasing a ton of new music. In March, Bryce released his second EP, entitled “Night Circus,” which features songs such as "Los Angeles" and "Glamorama." Clearly, this EP took on a different vibe from the first EP, and focused more on deeper beats and rapping compared to the first EP, which seemed to have a more pop, hip-hop vibe.

The release of “Night Circus” marked the start of Bryce releasing new music more quickly as an indie artist, compared to when he was signed to a record label. He took to Soundcloud to release songs that seemingly didn’t make the cut for his previous EPs. First Bryce released “Best Days,” which had been kicking around since Lazy Fair. He then released “Our House,” which serves as a subtle jam for the summer.

About two months after “Our House,” Bryce released his new summer jam for 2016. “Sunflower Seeds” set out to make a huge impact on the industry, but sadly hasn’t been picked up by the mainstream music since its release in August. I still believe there is hope for the song, as it is simply too great of a song to be passed up by anyone who hears it. The song embraces a fantastic beat, complete with a beautiful bass drop, and smooth lyrics with an infectious melody in the chorus. This song along shows off just how fantastic Bryce's melody lines are, and how damn catchy he can make a song.

A few weeks later, Bryce released “The Fall” while on tour. “The Fall” did gain some attention on iTunes, as for about a week it was featured under the “Hot Tracks” category. Bryce also shows off more of his edgy, unique singing voice in this slow jam, showing that he’s never afraid to explore his voice and his creativity in writing music.

Now that Bryce is done touring, he has tweeted that he’s going back to LA to work on his next album. Whether it will be a full-length album or another EP is unknown, and whether it will include “Sunflower Seeds” and “The Fall” is unknown as well. Either way, I am personally super stoked for new music from Bryce Vine. There is plenty of music from Bryce Vine that I didn’t include in this post, so be sure to check it out if you’ve liked what you’ve heard! After all, if enough people learn to love Bryce Vine, wouldn’t it be cool to get him to have a concert at UNI?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
