Why Your Gay Best Friend Is Your BFF

The perks are endless, and fabulous.

Why Your Gay Best Friend Is Your BFF

I have a best friend, and he happens to be gay. He is not my best friend because he is gay, but that part of his personality makes him who he is, and I love him for it. He is fabulous, and he knows it. He is sophisticated, and he knows it. He is amazing, and he knows it. Here are some reasons why my GBF is my BFF.

You can talk about boys.

Your GBF obviously knows a thing or two about boys, and it’s so helpful when you need to rant or get advice.

Unfortunately, both of you can think the same guy is cute, and it can be a competition to see who wins his attention.

He makes an excellent shopping partner.

If your GBF is anything like mine, he has an awesome sense of style and can put an outfit together faster than he can swipe on Tinder. He will tell you what looks amazing and what makes you look like Orca the whale.

Unfortunately, out of the two of you, he’s usually dressed better.

He is the only person of the opposite sex who can relate with you so well.

It is no accident you both think the same boy is adorable or you both want to see the same movie.

He is (basically) drama free.

I tread lightly when I say this because the drama in a gay man’s voice is usually very present, but, among relationships, gay men tend to have less drama. They are no-bullcrap, tell-it-like-it-is type of people.

He tells you like it is whether you want to hear it or not.

If there is one thing there is to truly admire about a GBF, it’s his honesty. He will tell me if my orange shirt makes me look like a traffic cone, or if my boots make me look like a Vegas hooker instead of a stylish beauty queen. He will tell me what he thinks about every aspect of my life, and it is usually in my best interest to listen.

He is extremely compassionate.

The heart of my GBF is bigger than his love for shoes. I know I can consistently count on him to keep my secrets and to listen to me whenever I need to rant and complain. He always puts others' needs before his own.

You can talk to him about anything.

Problems with girl friends? Problems with boys? Your GBF is the go-to person to talk to about anything under the sun. Whether it is about school, family, friends, things that make you happy or sad, your GBF is the person who wants to hear it all.

Worlds best hugs

My GBF gives the tightest, warmest, most secure hugs you can imagine. Whether I am crying from a recent heartbreak or saying goodbye after a college break, my GBF makes me feel so warm and loved.

He’s the only boy who won’t break your heart.

Unless you have a crush on your GBF, he’s not going to break your heart. Together you can talk about startups and breakups and crushes and dreams and hopes for the future and everything in between.

He is your person.

Your GBF is the one person who constantly reminds you of your self-worth and what you deserve. When you’ve done something stupid, he will always forgive you and help you clean up the mess. He is your go-to person for a giggle, a coffee date, and a support system. Your life would not the same if you didn’t have your GBF in it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
