14 Reasons Why Your Mother Is Your Best Friend

Mothers. They are such a huge impact on our lives. You would not know what a best friend is unless your mom is your best friend. Here are some reasons your mom is considered as your first best friend.

1. She always comes to your defense.

When you were much younger, this had meant fighting your elementary school art teacher for not understanding your form of "advanced art expression." As for now, she boldly offers to talk to your manager after you have a bad day at work.

2. She genuinely and sincerely cares about what you want to do with your life.

Mom: Which career do you feel comfortable with?

You: Gosh Mom, I can't think about my future right now!

Mom always dreamed big for you.

3. She experienced Disney in all forms just to see you happy.

From migraine-inducing theme parks to frequent in-store meltdowns (why should you choose between the Princess of the Sea and the Princess of France?) Mom indulged in your Disney obsession because she wanted to share your happiness.

4. She'll always try to "get it," even when she doesn't.

You could be talking straight gibberish, and your mother will always try to understand you.

5. She'll always give you the benefit of the doubt.

Mom: Where did this crazy Forever 21 charge come from?

You: It must have been that early birthday present you got me.

Mom: I am so thoughtful!

6. She makes you feel special, even when you feel worthless.

She will keep you on the phone for hours, just to listen to the most trivial parts of your day. She'll take the time to bake all your favorite kinds of treats even if you are just coming home for a weekend.

7. She cares about your appearance more than you do.

Mom was the first person to tell you to not get that horrible tattoo or hideous eyebrow ring. But, of course, you did not listen and have since learned the hard way that Mom does. Besides, mothers DO know best.

8. She'll celebrate your birthday more than her own.

You might have been the one being born, but, she'll never forget who got you there.

9. She was with you every single time you did something stupid.

.. If only because your Mom was your first phone call

10. She has seen it all

From your most embarrassing moments like, that one time that she had to bring you a change of underwear to school to taking care of you when you were gravely ill. You could do anything in front of her, and she would not love you any less.

11. She'll listen to your petty problems and give it to you straight.

Mom has immense patience for practically everything you do, including your trivial drama. Her therapy sessions don't come with tough love, but then again, that's why you go to her in the first place.

12. She won't judge you for wearing pajamas outside the house.

But she'll make sure you wash them before you get back into bed with the same pair on. #Priorities .

13. She wants to know the bad news, too.

Mom is like a detective- she'll figure out what's wrong, no matter how many times you give her the "it's nothing" or "I'm fine". She has the mother sense, so just tell her what is bothering you.

14. She loves to listen to you brag.

Besides your grandma, your mom is the only other person who genuinely likes to hear about your extensive accomplishments, and won't secretly hate you for it.

To the mothers of the world,

Thank you for making us the people we are today.

We love you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
