Being almost a junior in college (and moving into an apartment this fall) is a huge deal so you know what that means... Pinterest. Lots and lots of pinning and saving different DIY ideas for saving space and easy recipes for the kitchen. Pinterest is a rabbit hole sometimes and if you ever need a pick me up just lay in bed and explore the wonders of makeup, college life, money-saving hacks, and my favorite; college hacks. I could spend hours looking at different ways to be crafty or simple things I can do with items I already have. Being in college you have to fit everything you need in such small quarters all while making your room feel like you. Without further ado, here are my top 7 college hacks that you have to know before move in day!
1. Put all your "Goo" on the back of your door.
I've seen this floating around and I know people use over the door shoe cubbies for this as well. I know I have so many lotions, hair products, and bathroom goo and it takes up so much space on my sink. When I found this I thought it was perfect for saving bathroom space.
2. Hang a Tapestry Properly
I know my roomies and I have poked holes in the corner of our tapestries to hang them with command hooks. But once I found this, there will be no holes in tapestries!
3. Never Lose a Bobby Pin Again!
I'm probably the absolute queen at losing and finding my bobby pins in random places! I end up looking on the floor sometimes when I run out it gets that bad. Instead of putting my pins in a cup (then having the cup fall over), I know I'll be using this hack on my bathroom sink. A magnet strip could be used sometimes for keeping some makeup brushes out of the way too.
4. Never Have a Trash Bag Slip Again
Be honest, how many of us actually buy trash bags for the small trashcans in the bathrooms? Oh right, no one. We always reuse the bags we get from grocery shopping but they always fall off, not anymore!
5. Sick of your hair tools getting tangled?
Easy fix! They can be stored underneath your sink or even neatly on a desk if you have to share a bathroom. I have also seen people use PVC pipe to store a hot flat iron on the sink as well!
6. Not enough room in the fridge?
Being gluten free, and having a roommate who is vegan, these will come in handy when we all want our foods to be separate. Even if you don't have to separate foods these could still come in handy to save some space on shelves.
7. Dishes Upon Dishes
In a small apartment let's be honest you are going to have limited space for pots and pans. Something like this to keep them all organized is probably the best way to go!
So! Walk into your new dorm/ apartment and look like a pro with these super easy tricks! Oh and, Happy Pinning!
