If You're Eligible to Vote I Highly Suggest That You Do

Dear Friends,

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this cold, rainy season! Halloween is right around the corner, and the holidays are coming up. Before you know it, it will be the year 2020. It's crazy how time flies by in the blink of an eye.

Today I want to talk about something more political. Now, for those of you who really know me, I am not a political kind of guy. I am not very educated in politics, and I never really engage in political conversations just because I don't know what I'm talking about half the time. Now, I am not typing this article to tell you who to vote for, or try and change your opinion on candidates for the upcoming elections in the future. I am simply typing this to emphasize the importance of voting in this country. If you're an adult, you really don't have to read this. I'm making this more for kids my age who are finally able to vote. Regardless, maybe you should read this if you're interested.

Our country is a home for all of us. I understand that not everyone agrees on every single political topic. Whether it's on abortion, gun control, citizen status, taxes, employment, etc., the whole country isn't going to agree on. Some people will be upset and others will be happy with certain laws and bills being passed or not passed. That's life. It may suck or it may be great. Again, I'm not going to be sharing my opinions on all of these specific topics because that is not my goal for this article.

My goal for this article is to get people to vote for what they believe in. It's to get college students and kids my age to take the time to vote. This is our future we are voting for. This is our lives we are shaping and participating in. I don't care if you're republican, democratic, moderate, socialist, or whatever types of political groups there are out there. I'm not educated in politics. I don't know what is going on in the world half the time, but I'm going to change that. I'm going to research information on candidates and political issues for the upcoming elections because I believe it is important to vote. It's important to make the effort to get the change you want to see in the world.

You could be like me and not really know anything about politics, or you can be a real hard-core driven person about it. Either way, I could care less. I truly think it is important for kids in high school and college to understand that it's our time to make a difference in this world. Soon we will be the ones trying to get jobs and paying taxes and all that jazz. I used to not worry about voting and politics because I didn't really think it affected me as much, but now I realize that it truly does.

I know I emphasized this a lot, but please know that I don't care who you vote for individually and I don't care about your opinions. I'm not saying that to be rude, but people have a right to have their own opinion on things. It's not my place to change your mind on things whether I agree or disagree with you. I don't like arguing about politics. It's not worth it in my opinion. Other people may disagree, but every time I witness political debates between friends or family, it always ends in fights.

Overall, I just want kids my age to know that it is important to vote whether you know it or not. If you can vote this upcoming year, do the research and vote. I'm NOT telling you how to vote, but just go vote. It's important to participate in voting and get involved with these things that will affect OUR future. Am I the best person to be typing this kind of article? Maybe, maybe not. I know that people might not like this kind of article because it is political-based, but I believe that getting out there to vote is a necessary thing to do.

If you're unhappy with things in this country, then make the effort to vote. If you want to see change, go out and vote. As I said a million times, I'm not a political kind of guy. I like to focus on myself and go about my own life, but I know that it is a huge thing to go out and vote. So think about it, and consider looking into things even just a little bit.

I truly hope you all have an amazing week. I wish the best to all of you, and that you're enjoying life and that you all are happy. I'm not going to wish anything horrible on anyone because they disagree with me or anything like that. Sincerely, I hope everyone takes good care, and I will see you all next week with a new article.

Your Friend,

Al

P.S.

Go have fun this Halloween!

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
