If You're "Over" Feminism, You Never Understood it

nobody cares about your desire to be a stay-at-home mom and the joy you get when you wash your husband's socks every night.

I see these articles about women renouncing feminism lot here on the Odyssey, and in the beginning, I was confused, I didn't understand why so many women kept getting it wrong, but then it hit me. What do all these women have in common? Their privilege. And now it all makes sense.

Of course, they don't understand or care for this new wave of feminism, it doesn't cater to their needs. It doesn't affect them so of course, they're going to shrug their shoulders and 52% of them will go on to vote for Trump regardless of the damage they knew he'd do to the country because they know it won't affect them personally.

" I don’t want the things that these feminists are fighting for. And further explaining it won’t change my mind."

I think the fact that you're already aware of where we now just goes to show how willfully ignorant you are. If you think issues of misogyny., sexual assault and the daily struggles women go through in our society aren't worth addressing, then please stay home and keep your mouth shut. At least, then other women won't have to deal with your idiocy and you can continue to live in ignorance.

Why are women considered the more domestic and nurturing ones?”

Because toxic masculinity exists and if you'd listen to feminist you'd know that a man is just as capable as a woman of being domestic and nurturing if only they hadn't been raised to believe that they were made to conquer the world and women were made to serve them.

" Why do you think women give birth? How could you not be nurturing after carrying a child inside of you for nine months? And it is completely okay to choose to stay home and be a mother because that is the hardest job in the world. It is okay to like cooking. It is okay to take care of your husband and children. It is okay to want your boyfriend to ask for your father’s blessing before proposing to you. It is okay to take his last name. Feminists wouldn’t have you believe these things."

There are plenty of women who carried a child for nine months and didn't become anymore nurturing than they originally were. You like traditional gender roles and that's fine, but don't try to shut up the other women who don't. Women who maybe don't feel they should have to take on "the hardest job in the world" but would rather become a CEO of a multi-billion dollar company. Some of us are just lazy that way.

But at the end of the day, most feminists don't care what you believe, as long as your beliefs don't cause anyone harm .

And: I Am A Female And I Am So Over Feminists

This is what's wrong with all the "I'm not a Feminist" articles, besides the obviously coded racial language these articles have in abundance, they're equating feminism with something it's not. Equal pay isn't what people are out on the street marching for any more.

The wave of feminism we're now on is intersectional feminism. It's the kind of feminism where nobody cares about your desire to be a stay-at-home mom and the joy you get when you wash your husband's socks, but they are concerned with your decision to dismiss an entire movement because Google is too hard for you to navigate.

Something shouldn't have to have a direct effect on you in order for it to matter. Nobodys asking you to march and be on the frontlines or anything like that. Feminism has now become a social movement to gain equality for EVERYONE on ALL levels. If you're against that, if you decide that that is not important then you might as well admit that in addition to not being a feminist, you're also an idiot.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
