As many may have seen on the news, the choosing of candidates for the 2016 presidential election is in full swing. On August 6, 2015, the first, large Republican primary debate aired on Fox. With all the talk of the upcoming election, I think it is important to remember one thing. You need to vote.
I know it's early to be bringing it up, but it's important. You may hear people say all the time, "you need to vote!" and "it's your right to vote!" If you're like me, you probably get sick of hearing it. But it's the truth. We are blessed to live in a country where we have the ability to have a say in who is our leader. Do you know how many countries DON'T have the privilege? Our government was intended to be a democracy back in 1776 when our nation became independent. Utilize it. #Democracy
You shouldn't go in uneducated on voting day either. Know who you're voting for and what their platforms are. That is why the "debate season" is so important for Americans. It allows for one to get an idea of what each candidate is all about. Do not just go in and vote for the most popular or for the first name you recognize on the list. You should be able to walk into the voting area and know exactly who you're voting for because you think he or she will be a great leader for our nation and you agree with their view-points on important issues. I know it can be boring watching the news and debates and reading news papers, but in the end, it will help you decide on who to vote for.
If you're not registered to vote, help yourself out and do so. It's an easy thing to accomplish. You can Google-search where to register for your state, or check out www.usa.gov/register-to-vote to get more information. If you're not sure of when the next primary debates will be, there are multiple websites that have the schedules posted. Voting is something that everyone who is eligible should do. If you decide not to vote this next presidential election, that's fine. That's your choice. If you don't vote, you have no room to complain when you don't like the next president.
