Just like many other people throughout this election, I have been confused. I get overwhelmed when I try to pick which person is “better”. I also don’t find enjoyment in scrolling through my Facebook reading multiple, strictly opinionated, political posts with no facts to back it up. I am sure the majority of you can relate to these feelings I have been having. I know that social media has been a great way for us to express our opinions, and so I will use my article as a way to express my opinion about all of your agonistical opinions.
Where is the faith? Why is it that every four years, we let two human beings divide us as a nation? Aren’t we one nation under God? Let me reiterate. UNDER GOD. Not under the President of the United States. Sure, he technically governs “over” us and I understand that our government is set up so that we elect someone into office. But, what I don’t understand, is that we have allowed one person let our guards come down on our faith. Faith isn’t a feeling you get that comes and goes. Faith is a choice. You must choose to trust God and accept Him as your Lord and Savior who can get you through anything.
We can keep thinking that the President controls us and lose our minds in worry, or we can trust in the Lord with all our hearts because that is what he tells us to do. Why do we choose to disobey His word? Haven’t we learned that when we defy His word, He puts roadblocks and hardships in our lives to change our route and way of thinking to lean on Him. God will have His way, and yet we still think the President is the most powerful? Do we even know the powers of our God? Ask Barack Obama to walk on water, part the sea, walk across on dry land, or die and revive himself three days later. You see, everyone falls under the nation of God. God is at the top, and we often forget this when we think of our “social pyramid”. There is nothing that He can’t do. The President of the United States still has a Boss, still has Someone watching over him/her, and still has Someone to answer to.
Government, laws, and documentations are put in place, except they are missing one thing. With separation of church and state, all of these things lead us to live how the people in office want us to live. As a Christian, I live how my Father wants me to live. As an American, I live how my Father wants me to live, and He tells me to submit to the authorities. The authorities that exist have been established by God. They are his servants, and whoever bears office in 2017, I will give what is asked of me as an American. Basically, I will pay my taxes as an American, but when I get a chance to vote, I will always vote for what supports God’s word. You can be both an American and a Christian. So what are we so afraid of?
I will go out on November 8th, and do my part as an American. I will fight for what is right and I will let my voice be heard. But I will also go out on November 8th as a Christian, and vote with God in my heart. Stop slandering one another, and pray for one another! Just because my favorite color is green and yours is blue, love me anyways. God tells us to love our neighbor, and love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Romans 13:8-10 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Matthew 7. Do not worry this election, because He is the most powerful. Do your part and vote as an American, but know that there is only one King. Voting is an opportunity to promote, protect, and preserve Godly government. Don’t take that for granted.
