Ah, the 2000s: The years of Limited Too, AIM, and Avril Lavigne. Being born in the 1990s did have its perks, especially since the 2000s were even better. It's sad to think that kids born only a few years after us never had these things in their lives. The 2000s were the glory days. Let's take a trip back in time with a list of things you did if you were a 2000s kid:
1. You couldn't wait to get home to check out who was on AIM
More specifically, you couldn't wait for your crush to finally IM you. Did you just get in a fight with your bestie? That means she's moving down your top friends list in your buddy info.
2. If you had Heelys, you automatically became 10x more cool.
Everyone at school wanted those beloved shoes with wheels. You loved sneaking them into school and rolling down the hallway in style. Until they got banned from your school.
3. Also, owning a Razor scooter made you cool.
They see me rollin, they hatin'.
4. Rushing home to watch TRL.
What music video is it gonna be today?!
5. Looking back and wondering why in the hell you made some of the screen names you did.
fun_in_ThE_SuN72 ? Really... Why?
6. Myspace. Everything about Myspace.
"What? I'm not on your top friends? I'm so offended!" "Why does your profile say that your 30 years old?"
7. Using Picnik to edit all of your photos for Myspace.
There's so many filter options!
8. Feeling #blessed when your parents got you an iPod Nano for Christmas
What music made up your playlist? The Jonas Brothers? Usher?
9. Club penguin and Webkinz were the sites to be on.
And then sneaking onto it during computer lab time just to make sure your pet got fed and that your penguin was still cool ( get it? cool? ha ).
10. Owning a cellphone that did not flip, text or really do anything.
Anyone up for some Tetris or Snake II? Don't hit the internet button and charge your parents.
11. #Goals were to beat all of your friends in the first Guitar Hero game.
Are u ready 2 rock?
12. Having dozens of J-14 posters on your walls, ceiling and door.
Is it Jesse or Nick? Or both...
13. Door beads, ponchos and initial purses from Limited Too.
And regretting the beads after every time they would get stuck in your door. Ponchos were so stylish. And who could forget the letter of your first name when it was right there in your purse?
14. Uggs were just becoming cool.
And you wore them EVERYWHERE.
15. Wearing 15,000 bracelets on your arms.
Am I emo enough?
16. You know the "Soulja Boy" dance and lyrics like the back of your hand.
Soulja Boy up in it OH. Watch me crank it, watch me roll. (Because the dirty lyrics were too inappropriate for us middle schoolers)
17. You vividly remember 9/11.
And usually get asked, "Where were you on 9/11?"
18. You watched "Fred" on YouTube.
Fred goes swimming, to the dentist and even goes to the park. Funny? Oh yes.
19. Justin Bieber, Nickelback, All American Rejects, Green Day and The Black Eyed Peas were still a thing.
Admit it, you loved them. And you bought all of their CD's.
20. Team Edward or Jacob? More importantly, Team Twilight or Harry Potter?
I was always a team Jacob kind of girl. #SorryNotSorry
21. You actually played outside.
"Mom says we have to be in before the street lights turn on!"
22. All of your music came from Limewire.
And you were so sad when it got taken down. "What is paying for music?"
23. You somehow thought that Lunchables were great meals.
That pizza though.
24. Your recorded ringtone said a lot about you
"EVERYONE QUIET! I can't hear the song."
25. Your favorite *Adult* shows consisted of Laguna Beach, Parental Control, Secret Life Of The American Teenager, and Next.
You knew Shailene Woodley as Amy Jeurgens, not Tris or Hazel.
26. Wearing a shirt with the store name on it was pretty cool.
A & F or Hollister & Co. ?
27. Drake was still in a wheelchair on Degrassi.
And you were in love with him.
28. You couldn't wait for movie nights on Disney Channel
High School Musical, Stuck in The Suburbs, My Date With The Presidents Daughter... The list goes on. Too bad all the movies are bad now.
29. You would find ridiculous cheat codes for The Sims.
More money? Better career? Which one will it be today?
30. You are so happy that you were born in the 90s because you got to go through all of this. These were the good days.
No cell phones, internet was still a privilege, and playing outside was most definitely a thing.
