College is one of the best experiences of your life, and each university has it's unique quirks. Here's a list of things that you can relate to if you have ever gone to The University of Akron.

1. Most of your UA shirts were free at an event.

One of the first things that I was told during my freshman year at The University of Akron was that I would never again want for a university t-shirt, and boy, was that person right. Even time I go home all I hear from my family is do I own anything that doesn't say "The University of Akron."

2. You groan if someone mentions going to Polsky.

Anyone that has ever taken an ASL knows this struggle. Polsky is one of the farthest buildings from campus, and getting to class on time usually requires a bit of running and climbing up and down hills. And don't get me started about going to Polsky when it's snowing out.

3. Parking is a struggle.

Thankfully, I live on campus, so I never have to look too hard for a spot during the week because I rarely drive my car! But for commuter students, finding a spot can take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes.

4. Getting hit by the Roo bus *may* equal free tuition.

There are one too many rumors going around campus that taking a hit from the Roo Express earns you free tuition. And while we don't have any sufficient evidence is this is true or not, I would not suggest testing it out.

5. You've seen/met Longboard Jesus

There are a lot of people that skate, ride bikes, or even roller blade to class. One of the most popular is Long Board Jesus (I will not post his actual name here) and if you ever get the chance, stop and talk to him! He's a nice guy!

6. You've shot hoops with President Wilson.

This past year, The University of Akron had a change in administration and all I can say is that students seemed to be pleased with the direction the university is going in. We have a president that is frequently seen throughout the community, during move in, and around campus shooting hoops with students. You go, President Wilson!

7. You are a PRO at navigating your way around construction.

Every season in Ohio seems like construction season. As soon as one project ends, another one begins. I don't know about you, but I've already managed to figure out the fasted route from point A to point B on my schedule already and am hoping it doesn't change too soon.

8. Swensons is your go to for a quick dinner.

Swensons is one of the best places to go, whether it be for lunch, dinner, or a late night snack, and you don't even have to get out of your car! The best is when the Swensons truck appears at different events around the city.

9. You've ordered Insomnia Cookies at 1 a.m.

Insomnia Cookies is literally God's gift to The University of Akron. They deliver fresh baked cookies anywhere on or around campus until early in the morning and offer great discounts if you sign up to receive emails!

10. You take selfies with Zippy every chance you get.

The semester doesn't officially begin until students get a chance to snap a photo with our beloved mascot, Zippy! Lucky for us, Zippy can be seen all around campus and even attends multiple events, so keep an eye out!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
