When I was a little girl, my parents always would remind me that I could be whatever I wanted when I grew up, as long as I was happy. I was encouraged to dream really big. I could be a ballerina, a scientist, or an astronaut. But there was one job that was just assumed I would never want to be: President of the United States. Growing up only a short 20 years ago, POTUS was a man's game. By the age of 10, there had been 42 men in office and not one woman. I mean, 97 years ago, women did not even have the write to vote. There are still women in this world that clearly remember their mothers fighting for the vote and winning it.
So why is it ok to not support Hillary politically but respect her as a woman? In just 97 years we went from this:
To a woman actually running for the Presidency of the United States of America. This is cool people!
Now I know that many many people do not support Hillary (and I am making no political statements of my own), but Hillary fought her way this far while being a woman. While she was serving as First Lady to her husband, she was raising a child, her marriage and personal like were rocked by a very public affair, and she also just had the day to day stresses of being a woman.
And I am not the only woman who is jazzed by the idea of a woman this close to the White House. At the DNC there was an adorable 102 year old Centenarian that clinched Clinton's nomination. Clinton herself told little girls everywhere that they could be the next woman in the White House.
I don't really care who you support, who you vote for, or even if you vote (but seriously, go vote!). Don't through away the vote that your grandmothers and great-grandmothers fought for!
