The amount of time you share with someone means nothing when it comes to their value. The quality of the time is what truly matters. You can be with someone for days and feel more than you did with someone you were beside for over a year. You can be more of yourself in just a few hours than you could be with nights spent with a previous lover. Time means nothing when it comes to the strength of feelings.
Yes, feelings do grow over time, but you can feel so much a week that has the probability to be the greatest feeling in your life than anything ever before. When it comes to the right person, it’s instantaneous. It’s like the slope of a curve, in the exact moment. Nothing is gradual about it. It’s magnetic, enticing, gravitation to the extreme. People always say opposites attractive, but two alike people truly last. When you can share hobbies, laughter over the same things, value the same practices and get joy for the same silly things.
What I am trying to say is you will fall in someone who makes you more of yourself, and that is probably going to be with someone like yourself. So one who brings out more of what you love. Someone with whom to share what you love. Yes there will be differences, but these will also enhance the quality of life you two possess. They can ease your fears and show you a different way of living, different ways of doing, no more redundancy but variation. Soulmate is a big word and even bigger theory I am afraid to believe in, but I am sure that if they do exist for everyone that these are the qualities they would possess.
The person for you should make you better, make you feel alive, beautiful, worthy, joyous, not content or adequate. Never settle for alright. Don’t settle for the person that doesn’t treat you bad but doesn’t treat you like heaven. Do not settle for the person who gives you possessions but not the right emotions. Do not settle for fights every night because you think that is part of love. Love isn’t tears and yelling and begging to be understood, believed, trusted.
Do not be afraid to feel like you deserve more than what you are given. Do not be afraid to try and look. If you are feeling doubt, listen to your intuition. Your heart knows what you need, deserve and value.
