10 Things You Know If You're The Lazy Friend

You Call It Lazy, I Call It Selective Participation

As I've gotten older I have realized that sometimes doing stuff the "easy" way is actually the hard way. For example, a teacher gives you a reading to do for homework. A "good" student would read the whole thing and take notes on it, but us lazy folks would use Sparknotes or some other website to get the main gist of the reading.

Another example is not making your bed when you wake up. It seems like a simple task, pulling the blankets up, but in my case, that's an extra minute of sleep that I missed. Plus, I'll be sleeping in it in less than 18 hours.

Even though I'll end up making an ass out of you and me, I'm going to assume that most, if not all, friend groups have the "lazy" friend and if you take the time to read this whole thing, I'd say you're probably not that friend.

In the case that you are or you know who that friend is, you'll relate to or recognize all of these things:

1. Sweatshirts, sweatpants, yoga pants and leggings are your main wardrobe staples

Each of these take very little effort to put on and depending on where you are or what you do, it may be best to be comfortable (especially when you have class at eight o'clock in the morning).

2. Makeup takes up too much time

You have nothing against people who wear makeup but you don't have the patience to stand in front of the mirror to perfect a look that if you make one mistake messes up your whole day.

3. Washing your face at night is a a foreign practice

If I wash my face in the morning what is the point of washing it again? It's not like I put makeup on while I was sleeping.

4. The elevator is your best friend

Even if it's just one floor above, you'll stand and wait at the elevator for five minutes as everyone passes you, wondering why you don't take the stairs, because it's easier.

5. If you had it your way, walking would been left in the twentieth century

You'd rather drive the five blocks, struggle to find parking and have to walk a quarter of a mile from your parking place than just walk the five blocks.

6. You live on Ramen while at college

At home, the kitchen was right there or you had a mini fridge in your room; At school, unless you live right next door to the dining hall, you'll have to do some walking to get non-ramen food

7. You will watch something you absolutely hate if the remote is out of arm's reach

If after you sit down to watch TV, you realize that the remote is on the table on the other side of the sofa, you will just watch what's on until someone comes in and can hand you the remote

8. If your friend is more than ten feet away, you text them, even if they're in the same room

And when they don't answer right away you watch them until they finally do, maybe even doing a fake cough to give them a hint

9. You will carry all your groceries in one try, or die trying

A second trip is not option, even if you have a carload of groceries

10. You accept that you're seen as lazy because you know you'll eventually get stuff done, and that

If you do each of these things, you're not lazy, you are very selective about what you participate in. Welcome to the club.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
