Sometimes you need to take a deep breath. You need to take that breath and hear some encouraging words. Sometimes you need to hear that you are enough. This topic is not something I see popping up a lot, on the account of it being raw and real. It's like this part of us subconsciously shuts down whenever exposed to others. I believe that genuine, pure human connections happen to be the best though, and it is only beneficial to know that someone else in this universe feels the same way you do, whether that feeling is joy or pain.
There are going to be times when you fail, when you fall and when you feel alone, but that is OK. The most important thing is that you do not let your failures define you and you do not beat yourself up over them. You learn from your mistakes, and you move on. You move on to better things, and you grow as a person. There may be times where you don't feel good enough, or pretty enough or special enough, but you need to throw all of those negative thoughts away. You need to know that you bring something to the table that no one else can, and you are so loved. My Sophomore year of high school, I had a talk with my pastor's wife that has stuck with me ever since. This was during a very dark part of my life when I was struggling with an eating disorder and fighting the suicidal thoughts in my head. She sat down with me and told me that she did not want to live in a world with no Maddi. And now I am going to tell you the same thing she told me: Whoever you are reading this, I do not want to live in a world without you. I have come a long way, and I have become strong. Whatever you are going through, you will come out strong too.
We are at a time where loving ourselves is crucial. There is so much pressure to please others and be who they want us to be, that we often forget who we really are. Being a girl in this generation is tough. We get consumed by what the media wants us to look like and let others opinions of us go to our head. You do not need the media to tell you, you are perfect. You do not need a boy to tell you, you are perfect. You do not even need me to tell you, you are perfect. You need to know how worthy you are. Stop comparing yourself to others. You need to do things that make you happy. Put yourself first sometimes. Take a step back from work, school and all the other chaos and find the beauty in little things. Take the time to find out who you are and all the little quirks that make you, you. Embrace who you are and learn to love yourself a little more every day.
