Yes, it’s actually mine.

The Top 5 Questions Girls With Lifted Trucks Are Tired Of Hearing

1. “Wait, what?”

Yes, I am a 20 year old girl who has a nice, lifted, diesel pickup truck. One of my favorite parts about my truck is when someone will pull up to a stop with me, glance around and then snap their heads back to me in .03 seconds, most likely questioning why a girl would be driving such a large truck, which most people tend to do.

2. “That’s your truck?”

Yes, it is. It’s my daily driver and my off-road vehicle – I like taking it to Silver Lake Sand Dunes. It’s a 2000 F-250 with a 6 inch lift kit, stacks and yes, green and purple flames painted on it. Oh and did I mention that the tailgate has lyrics from Jason Aldean’s 2009 song, “She’s Country,” on it? “Daddy’s sweet money done jacked it up,” to be exact. It’s one of my favorite songs and my parents thought it would be cool to have it painted on the new tailgate they got me one year for Christmas.

3. “How can you park that thing?”

Honestly, it really isn’t that hard to park a 4-door truck. Most of the time, it’s easiest just to park out in the middle of nowhere, because that means I don’t have to deal with all of the people who don’t realize they should park more than two feet away from the ‘big truck’. After the first few days of driving a larger vehicle, you actually get the hang of having to make wide turns in order to park between the lines. Oh and parallel parking basically isn’t a thing, unless I can pull into one of the spots on the end. Other than that, I’ll deal with the walk.

4. “Why do you have such a big truck?”

I love trucks, especially lifted ones. I have always wanted a truck. My dad used to have a green F-250 when I was younger that I had claimed as mine for when I turned sixteen. Things didn’t quite happen that way, because he then sold it a few years later. However, things did end up working out fairly well, because he found the truck I now call mine and looking at the picture of when we first got it makes me chuckle because of how much we have changed it. I take pride in my truck – even though I don’t clean it nearly as much as I should.

5. “Is it yours, or did your parents pay for it?”

Finally, the most irritating question that I have encountered in the 4 years I have driven my truck. My parents bought my truck for me. However, my dad drove it for two years before I turned 16. Yes, my dad has paid for my vehicle, as well as what he can for my education. My parents are a blessing and I could never thank them enough for what they have given me. But just because my parents gave me my vehicle doesn’t mean I didn’t earn it. I’ve always done well in school, always been active in school as well as outside of school and it’s how my parents chose to ‘reward’ me for my hard work. My parents were able to give me everything that they have throughout my life because they have worked their lives to be able to do that and I could never thank them enough for it. So yes, it is technically ‘mine’ because I drive it 99.9% of the time and yes, my amazing parents paid for it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
