Yes, I Fell In Love With Theatre

My freshman year was the first time I ever stepped into a theatre, not as an audience member, but as an actress. It was one of the most life changing things that has happened to me. The beautiful posters of every show that had been performed there on that stage, where in just a few weeks I would be with all of my classmates putting on our first show, performing my first monologue, and auditioning for my first show. All of these feelings rushed over me in a second, all to be stopped when I looked up and mistook the girl who would become my big sister, as my new teacher. This place would soon become my home, my safe place, and I would gain a new family from this. Here's why I fell in love with theatre, and why I will never regret it.

1. The stage can be any place in the entire world

The worlds a stage and the stage is the entire world. You can be anywhere, feeling anything. From laughing, to sobbing, to even playing roles you never thought you'd play, you can be anything.

2. It is the only place to sing and dance with no judgement at all

Chances are everyone around you will join in too! Flash mobs are always welcome.

3. You have a full time second family

I never fit in, but the minute I stepped into the theatre I found people with hearts full of love, but more importantly I found my family, and I wouldn't change it for anything.

4. I can be whoever I want to be

You can be whoever, whatever, and anything you have ever wanted to be. In a way, being everything helps you to find who you really are, and it changes you for the better.

5. Theatre kids love with their whole hearts and nothing less

We love each other, everything in life, and everything around us. It is the greatest feeling ever to love life and to see life in a way that makes it so bright and beautiful. To us theatre is not just a class, it's our whole life.

I fell in love with theatre a year ago, and I will never fall out of love with it. I am so blessed to be a part of theatre, and to have a new family. Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this, and I cannot wait for what is to come!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
