There's no denying that being the President of the United States of America is by far one of the most honorable, courageous, and demanding jobs that a person can ever have. It takes a certain kind of person to work their entire life for a 4-8 year position as the head of our country or what I like to call 'the Best Place on Earth." That person must be smart, personable, interesting, and have that certain something that gets people's attention. All rare qualities for one person to have. Yet, every four years on the first Tuesday of November our great nation comes together and selects a person we find fit enough to run our country and to help solve problems. Not easy expectations to place on someone.
So, why do we feel the need to judge this person? On social media, it is inevitable to see someone who has a mean joke or a angry statement on a presidential decision. And while yes, it is important to have opinions, it is also important to be educated before sharing them. And while yes, it is okay to express what you believe, it's not okay to degrade and tear down the man or woman who runs the country for the sake of a Facebook status. I can say, where I myself am concerned, I could never be the president. Mainly, because I wasn't born in the U.S., but also, because I would question every decision until it was too late. I would worry too much over little things and avoid the big things. I would be too scared to make the wrong call and would instead not make any call. And I think a lot of people would be right there with me.
So, during this upcoming election and throughout the next presidency, I challenge you to educate yourself. Learn about each candidate and where they stand on different issues. Find the things you agree within each candidate. I challenge you to live by the old saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." And I challenge you to add to that. If you don't have the education, don't say anything. If you don't have to ability to run this country, don't condemn the people who are trying their best.
