College presents a lot of interesting and tough problems, but none of them are quite as upsetting as being friends with a lot of 21-year-olds when you are the youngest in the friend group. Here are some of the worst things that happen when you are the under-21 friend.
1. When you get asked to go out, but it’s just a bar, not a restaurant/bar.

*sighs* "I'll have the chicken tenders and a diet coke."
2. When you think you’ll be able to get away with ordering a drink, but then the person before you gets carded.
They're 23 and got carded, so there's no hope for you.
3. When you could get away with ordering a drink except for the fact that you look twelve.
Everyone always said this restaurant was super 'lax on carding... until you walked in.
4. When your friend accidentally rats you out before you’ve had the chance to order.
This is up there on the list of "Worst Party Fouls"
5. When your favorite drink is a special but you can’t order it.
Why would they taunt me with raspberry mojitos when I can't enjoy them!
6. “Hey, are you coming to Alex’s twenty-first birthday pa-- oh, right.”
Nope, still 20. Just like last week for Ryan's birthday. And the week before that for Taylor's. And the week before that...
7. When you thought you were getting invited to a drinking night in, but it turns into a drinking night out.
"What do you mean 'what bar are we going to?'"
8. When you owe a friend a drink, but you don’t get to buy one for yourself.
"Yeah, whatever, just take my card and get me another stupid Diet Coke."
9. When your siblings are all of age and they get to go out without you.
"We could go here or-- wait, that's not a restaurant. You okay with sitting this one out?"
10. When you just want to get some “hair-of-the-dog” with bottomless mimosas but all you get is bottomless orange juice.
"No, no. Just orange juice. Without the champagne."
11. When your friends ask you to be a designated driver for their “early night out” but they end up calling you at 2 a.m. to come get them.
"When you said early I assumed 11, but that's fine."
12. Counting down the days until you’re 21.

"When can you come out with us?!"
"Oh, you know, just one year, three months, and twenty-one days, but who's counting?"
