Winter is magical, and it's a shame it only lasts a few months. It brings holidays, snow, getting cozy by the fireplace with hot chocolate, and most of all, days off of school.
It's true, most people prefer the warm summer temperatures and vacations to the beach. Unlike the majority of others, I'd take the cold any day over the sweltering and humid summer temperatures.
There isn't much of a comparison to the beauty of a freshly fallen snow to wake up to. Besides the snow, winter brings a sense of wonder. I'm fortunate enough to live in an area that experiences all four seasons pretty evenly.
However, throughout spring, summer, and autumn, I'm counting down the days until I can trade in my shorts and sandals for jeans, sweaters, and scarves. Bundling up and going outside knowing I'm not going to start sweating buckets is much more appealing to me than walking outside and knowing I'm going to start melting under the summer sun.
Of course, there are some unfortunate circumstances to winter.
Dangerous road conditions, snow removal and shoveling, starting your car much earlier to defrost, and the shorter, darker days (which I strangely enjoy) are what most people hate about this season. Most of these factors can be a hassle, but if you turn the other cheek, it's easy to find winter fascinating.
Others despise this frigid season for the simple fact that they'd rather be warm than cold. I always joke that if I could have winter all year long, I would.
There's never enough time to enjoy the winter season, especially with the warmer, record-setting winters we've been having in years past. Snowfalls, sledding, and spending time inside all bundled up are some of the highlights of my year.
I love winter, some people hate it. Others love summer, I hate it. To have more of a year-long winter atmosphere, it looks like a move up north is in my future.
