How many times a day do you find yourself worrying about someone or something that you can not control? Do you ever feel so anxiety stricken that you can't move, swallow air, or even speak clearly? This is what happens when you constantly worry about life. Unfortunately, most of feel like we can not control where our thoughts go or how long we harp on them for. This problem is real and it can certainly feel like your life will never improve. It's incredibly frustrating, but you are not alone. We all have something in the present, near future, or extreme future to worry about. If you choose to think about your problems all day instead of thinking about all of the positive aspects of your life, you will find yourself always sad, and even to the point where you aren't actually living your life.
Think about all of those minutes of your life that you are wasting. Think about the fact that you'll never get this time back. Life is ticking away, and it ticks away even faster when you refuse to move forward. Worrying causes so much unnecessary stress on yourself, and for what exactly? Worrying does nothing, but add more problems instead of solving them. Now, I may not be the best person to take advice from because I myself worry about everything from my grades, to my family, to my health on, I kid not, an hourly basis. Although I am an extreme worrier, I also am aware that I need to relax more often. When I need to clear my mind, I use these ten tips to do so.
1. Read the bible. I realize that not everyone is religious – but if you can believe it helps.
2. Go to the gym. Running on the treadmill really helps get my heart rate up and keeps me happy.
3. Call your parents. My parents always make me feel better about any situation that I am uneasy about.
4. Do yoga. I went to a class this past weekend and I came out feeling relaxed with a clear mind.
5. Bring out your artistic side. Start a project, draw, paint, anything to get those creative juices flowing.
6. Clean. A cluttered space is a cluttered mind, so of course, a clean space means a clean mind.
7. Count to ten and take very deep breaths. tell yourself that you can be doing something more productive with your time.
8. Take a short nap. Sometimes you need to shut your brain off for half an hour and start your day over again.
9. Make a list of all the things there are to look forward to this week.
10. Watch a funny movie. Laughter is honestly the best medicine.
You are going to want to get used to correcting your worrisome thoughts. No matter what you are going through, it will always get better. So, relax and move forward.
