People often ask me why I love airports so much.
While I do love people watching and the hustle and bustle they are constantly full of—my true love for them stems from the desire to be somewhere new. There is nothing I love more than entering an airport knowing I'm getting on a plane and headed to another place, even if that place is somewhere I've been thousands of times. I love having new experiences, meeting new people and seeing things I've never seen before. There's a certain rush I get from travel that I have yet to get from anything else on this earth.
While at college, sometimes I get claustrophobic. I'm only exposed to the three square miles between my house, my classes and the main drag of shops and restaurants for months at a time. I crave something new. I crave travel. I've struggled to find the appropriate time to travel somewhere new while balancing a college schedule (I have also struggled to find the budget while attempting to balance a college check book, but that is besides the point). While surfing the web looking up different islands and mountains in far off places with names I can’t even come close to pronouncing, I somehow stumbled upon my university’s Alternative Spring Break offerings.
I guarantee almost every university across the nation offers some sort of alternative spring break trip. These are the perfect chances for avid travelers to serve their craving to go somewhere new, while also giving back to that community! When talk of spring break eventually rolls around and people are debating which all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta has better tables to dance on, keep in mind that there are other ways to spend your spring break. If you're looking for something new to do, check out your school's service trips; you definitely will not be disappointed.
