Work Hard, Have Faith In Yourself, And Trust Things Will Work Out

Oh, and make sure to ALWAYS bet on yourself.

There are times where you might think that you're not good enough for the job you want, confident enough in what you're doing in life or where you're going, or if you don't know what your next move should be.

Trust me when I tell you that hard work, faith in yourself and trusting things will work out are the biggest pillars to getting to where you're supposed to be - even if it's not where you thought you'd end up. If you can stick to these three things, everything will work out.

So many of the decisions you make and so much of where your life takes you is how you adjust and how you feel about yourself when you reach any crossroads. It might be something as simple as being assigned a new task at work where it's how you take on the new element and move forward with it that defines you. You need to be able to look in the mirror and say "I got this", and even if you don't feel 100% confident in the statement, make sure you're 100% confident that it'll all work out.

You always need to be willing to bet on yourself. Read that sentence a million times if you have to, but trust me when I tell you to ALWAYS bet on yourself. Always know that you offer something that no one else does, and the reason you're in any situation is because you can bring something to the table that no one else could. Make sure at the end of the day, even if you feel lost, you are confident in something about yourself, where you're going, what you've done, anything. And when push comes to shove and you have to step up to any task, bet on yourself that you'll not only succeed but excel at it.

Everything in life takes hard work. Sometimes even just getting out of bed in the morning can be hard work, but have faith in yourself and never take the easy route. Make sure you put in the work that's asked, and put in an extra little bet because that extra piece is what will make you stand out from the rest. You might not think anyone is noticing your hard work, your extra hours, your kindness or your dedication, but I promise you, the right people always notice those things and it will turn out in your favor in the end.

Believe me when I say that sometimes it takes years for you to look back and say Wow, I'm happy to be where I am", or "If anyone told me I'd be doing my dream job 5 years ago, I would've laughed at them, but here I am". Regardless of when that moment happens for you, I promise if you stay the course of the three key elements of working hard, having faith in yourself and knowing things have a way of working out, you'll get there. And even one better than you just getting there, you're going to find happiness.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
