Words for the Summer (and a Playlist To Go With Them)

I may be the only one to think this, but it seems like we started school just yesterday. It seems like it was no more than a day ago that we were taking our first showers in flip flops, walking to our first classes, and meeting our first friends. This is wrong, obviously, because it's been eight whole months since we packed up and left our hometowns. Where did all those months go?

If what they say about college being the best time of your life is true (so far it has proven to be), then what they say about it being over in the blink of an eye must be true too. That's honestly pretty terrifying. I'm finding myself with some serious senior year-esque nostalgia as the semester comes to a close, not wanting to leave this place...then I remember how ridiculous I sound because we're only freshmen, and our time here is nowhere near over. Basically, all that stands between us and the rest of our college careers is summer. *queue fireworks*

Summer for college students already feels different. Many of the people I've come to love are the ones who live far beyond my state's borders, so there won't be much of seeing them. Numbers of us will be working camps, internships, studying abroad...and other numbers of us will be at home, wishing to be back in our beloved college towns (sans-homework, of course). Since we're firm believers in finding a little adventure every day, whether you're traveling the world or keeping yourself busy in your hometown, the advice I want to give is to celebrate every day. Take as many mini-road trips as you can. Actually invest in your high school friends, even if you all feel like you're 17 again, and get to know who college has turned them into.

Love on your family; you only get them for a few months before you head on back. Be present with them. Is it cliché to say pick up a hobby? Take lots of pictures? Probably. Do it anyway. The moral of this article is to not let your next couple of months go to waste. If anything, go and just have fun. That being said, Scott Visy (Baylor ZZZ) and I want to leave you with a list of 20 of our Summer 2k15 Anthems. Whether you're driving down a two-lane, tossing back a whole snow cone, getting hopelessly sunburned, laughing with friends, or just Netflixing, these songs will party right along with you. Enjoy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
