5 Words To Describe NYC From A Nebraskan

New York is one of the Most popular cities in the world. There is so much culture and historical things within the city that take your breath away. Being from Nebraska, I honestly can say I will never be able live in the city, but I think it is worth seeing for everyone. It puts things in perspective, especially people from Nebraska on how big this nation really is. There are so many things to see and do but before you go do your research on certain things. Study the buildings and locations. Everything has a certain amount of significance to you after that. Also entice yourself with the culture. Try New York style food. Go do something that you have never done or just go sit and listen to someone with a New York accent. It sounds stupid but it's really interesting. This city is great and if you ever have a chance to go see it. Do it.

Overwhelming

The city that literally never sleeps. There is no down time. There is no "Let me enjoy this view for 20 minutes." It's go-go-go. You almost have to find a rhythm on how to walk but also be able to see the things you want to see. The people of New York City don't care about what you want to see. They are going so you have to go as well. Stores are open until 2 in the morning and bars stay open until 4 (or, even, 24/7). The subway pretty much runs all night so there is a constant flow of never ending people rushing in this great city.

Creative

After my third or fourth subway ride, I noticed how creative the people of this city are. How they dressed, how they talked and get creative with their limited space in the city. If you have a mind for advertising and love creativity, this city will please that for you. Also people in this city have to be creative. There are so many different people chasing the same dream that you are chasing so you are forced to be creative with whatever your job is. It is a fascinating thing that I personally will carry over.

Rude

Hate to say it, but the people hear are rude compared to what the people in the Midwest are like. They frankly don't care about you or anyone else so they will yell and bump into you and force you out of lane if that's what it takes to get their way. I don't know how many times I heard someone yell at someone or something in their New York accent that would easily be solved with a polite remark, but that's not how they work here. The world revolves around money in New York and I think the people will do anything and everything to make the most of it.

Historical

There are so many historical things within this city that are worth seeing. It's overwhelming to see how many things you see in popular movies or something that has some historical significance. Whether it's Time Square or the 9/11 memorial. It's all great and important to see.

Cultured

This, I believe, is the best and most interesting thing that New York has to offer. There are so many different cultures in the city that blow you away. Walk down Times Square and you will see the different languages of people speaking around you. It's amazing. At times when you visit certain places, you feel like you just visited three or four different countries. For instance, where we rented an apartment for the vacation was in Long Island, in queens. It had an heavy Puerto Rican and Brazilian culture in that part. The restaurants, clubs, and the people all resemble the culture of their beloved country but while also having that New York culture.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
