No, I Won't Regret My Tattoos, Not Now, Not When I'm 80

I've had my tattoo for two years, I do not regret any of it.

Again and again, people that have one or many tattoos, are asked, "aren't you going to regret that when you're 80?" No, honey, I won't. Do you know why? There are a few reasons:

1) Knowing my personality, I'm not going to care about my body when I'm 80 years old,

2) I got the tattoo for a reason, there's a meaning behind it for me, and

3) I'm not looking for your approval on my tattoos, it's a free world.

There are many skeptics about how inking your body is shown in a negative light, like how it does not look professional, or how people think you're some kind of badass with it, or even how your body is created perfectly, and you shouldn't change it.

I can tell you that these rumors are mostly false. Tattoos used to not be professional, but they are growing acceptance within each profession, as I believe they should be accepted. Your work ethic is not defined by your looks. In addition, I wanted to cry like a baby when I got my tattoo because it hurt so badly, and I'm a five-foot-two blonde girl. I am not a badass by any means. Lastly, you may see someone's body as perfect, but as an individual, they might not see it that way. It's up to them if they want to make a change to their body.

So, why am I so pro-tattoo? When I was growing up, they were deemed cool, but that wasn't why. Every tattoo comes with a story. Honestly, I could get tattoos everywhere, and some of them would tell you about my struggles in life, others will tell you who I miss terribly, and other tattoos would say what I believe in and what I'm interested in.

If your tattoo has a meaning, you should be able to show it off. In addition, if you feel like something has so much meaning to you that you want to permanently let it sink into your skin, it should be important or a great story. If you're getting permanent art on yourself, then no, I won't regret it when I'm a grandma.

Even after telling people over and over, "Yes, I've known what tattoo I've wanted since middle school," and "Yes, it's not just a stupid tattoo, it means something to me." They smirk and ask me if I'm sure. I've had my tattoo for two years, I do not regret any of it. I'm not going to regret it when I'm 80 years old either.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
