The first week of classes at Western Kentucky University is finally over. Now that we have made it out alive, here are some campus resources to make sure we finish this semester right.
1. The Learning Center
The Learning Center is one of the most underrated resources on our campus. Located in DSU, this is a nice quiet place to get studying done. If you go online, they offering tutoring for over 200 classes for free. If you need help with homework, material, or studying tips they will set you up.
2. Counseling and Testing Center
Located in Potter Hall 409, the Counseling and Testing Center is something to always keep in the back of your mind. If you want to have a weekly appointment to keep up with whatever you are needing from them or need a walk in on a bad day, they've got your back. A one time $20 fee will get you unlimited sessions for all four years of undergrad. If you can't get $20 don't worry, they will still help you.
3. Personal Librarians
Even though I was able to work in a library for a year, I still have a hard time finding books for certain projects. At WKU Libraries they provide individualized services. They have faculty for most of the departments so if you need research help they can find a librarian specific to your work.
4. WKU Libraries
This sounds a little redundant after the personal librarian bit, but to many of us forget about the MASSIVE library that we have on campus. Declassified government documents, research books, magazines, fictional books, movies, music, and technology. I don't think I could list all the resources we have without turning writing a separate article. Whether you need a nice place to study or want to listen to some old records, we have been taking the library for granted for too long.
5. Online and Technical Resources
Sometimes you will spend hours in the library or
Googling and still not find what you need for class assignments. If you feel like you're at your wits end, WKU is here to save the say again with online resources. These include but are not limited to online databases, electronic journals, streaming media, and ebooks. When it comes to their technical resources they have even more. If your computer crashes before finals or you need to do a random photo project, you can rent all of these things and more for free in Mass Media.
