As I could speak upon most of the Greek community, becoming something bigger than you can forever hold a close place in your heart. Being active in philanthropies, volunteering, homecoming, Greek eek, etc. — this life I live never ceases to amaze me. Seems like a few short years ago I became an initiated member of AGD. The day I accepted my bid, was the day my life had changed in every way possible. Little did I know, this house and these women were about to influence not only my college experience, but my future as well. It has become my identity and my world.
,I remember living in the sorority was one of the best times in my life. How many times are you going to be able to live with 60 girls in your lifetime? I have made some of the most amazing memories in these years that will never be taken away. Without these women, I would have never experienced Benny (sheep dog) waking me up on my 21st birthday on the sleeping porch, or spending hours upon hours in the kitchen catching up with just about everyone, including our house mom. Sharing seven closets on Friday nights is always a plus too. And who else am I going to make music videos on the side of the highway with? I cannot forget about my pledge class. My amazing and beautiful PC'12. The ones I will forever hold the closest bond no matter what. You go through it all together. Without one another, things just would not be the same. It is the type of relationship of “I'm not going if you're not going." Each girl brings something different to the table and plays a different role. No matter what it is between the good and bad, you still love them for it. Trust me, we have been through it all … the tears …the smiles ... the bad nights … and god knows what else.
The opportunities this chapter has given these women, along with myself, have been so unforgettable. Between running for an executive position, networking, and even meeting unique individuals along the way, some can always say the same. Now being an upperclassmen, it's amazing to see the freshman and sophomores flourish into leaders in the house and have those exciting times of getting there Mom's and Dottie's. Watching my little family grow has not only made me feel like a grandma (no pun intended) but proud to see how positive, successful and smart women they have grown to be. All of these women have the next few years to look forward to, too become the future of the house and maintain the traditions that AGD have always had.
What Alpha Gamma Delta has given me is more than what I have ever expected. I have made my best friends, the most amazing women, met great people, become involved, and become something that has shaped who I am.
