There are conformist that were once dreamers; they most likely end up harboring regrets. The difference between a wise mind and a conformist is that a wise mind knows better. A wise mind is a dreamer that dreams then executes. A conformist just dreams. In order to acquire a life of contentment you must create it. There’s power in your self-fulfilling prophecy. Wise minds are aware that speaking prosperity into existence is important; they know to maintain an abundance of faith even through trials and tribulations. Conformists makes the choice of staying at a job they hate. Conformists allow themselves to be oppressed by fear.

Meet Jose Kercado, Jr, founder of the Wise Mind Movement established June 11th, 2014. “I wanted to create something to put smiles on not only the average person’s face, but those that are also less fortunate,” Jose says, speaking of his purpose for starting the brand. “I got so tired of negative mindsets and seeing unhappy things.”

The ones who deserve the most support are the genuine souls that are seeking to add value to the world; Jose is an exquisite representation of this. In all honesty, this brand is a necessity to society. Remember when I mentioned that conformists choose to stay at a job even when they’re miserable in that particular environment? Well, when Jose was asked what keeps him encouraged to continue pursuing his passion, he stated “I believe in finding happiness in life and not being forced to work somewhere you don't like.” I couldn’t agree more. Jose is actually the definition of a wise mind; he doesn’t just speak on the importance of chasing a dream, he demonstrates it.

I find it impossible not to be inspired by such an ambitious individual who constantly promotes positivity and selflessness. Jose doesn't brag about all of the prodigious deeds he has done, so I will do that for him. I believe people like him need to be placed in the spotlight more often. Though he may face hurdles on his road to success, his determination finds a way to maneuver through them. Jose mentioned his mom as one of the factors that keeps him going: “My mother, she needs me now more than ever, It’s only right that I fight these obstacles to better her living.” I have no doubt he will accomplish that.

On Monday, May 2, 2016, Jose announced the brand’s first pop-up shop. The Wise Mind Movement pop-up shop will take place on June 15th, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. I encourage everyone to show the support he undoubtedly deserves.

Jose defies odds, he doesn’t conform. Be like Jose and remember to stay wise.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
