Alright, I know this is coming in the midst of one of the harshest weeks in the college school year but take this article as not a tool of procrastination but an honest and helpful look at winter traveling as we all get off campus in a few days!
1. Plan Ahead
Even if you are driving planning and looking at weather conditions and possible sources of traffic and checking your oil are essential! Do not be the person stranded on campus with an immovable car. The same goes for those of us who will be traveling by other means, make sure you actually have your boarding tickets and go the the airport prepared for it all!
2. Get to the Airport an hour earlier
Seriously, it might seem crazy but most winter breaks around the country are happening the weekend before Christmas, almost as busy a period as the day before Christmas!
3. Clean Out Your Mini Fridge
You know it has been gross for a while now; just take all that leftover pizza and fruit out and clean it!
4. Be careful about what you take back home
You might still be in fall break mode and want to take all your clothes home but realize when you get back to campus it will still be winter and those winter jackets you've got will be necessary to survive the new semester.
5. Wash your bed sheets
Get those bedsheets you have not washed since the beginning of the semester and actually wash them and put them away. A month is a long time for dust to sit on them so try to wash them and store them or just wash them when you get back (but remember when you get back in a month you will have a million other things to do other than worry about washing your sheets).
6. Clean your dorm
This might be a good time to re-feng shui your dorm and get it together so that your sense of zen can be one when you get back from a month long time of relaxation instead of walking in on an avalanche of a mess.
7. Throw away your toothbrush or take it with you!
One of two options, do it or face the consequences of the month long un-used toothbrush smell.
8. Empty your Hamper Completely
Wash all your clothes and leave your hamper empty for when you return ready to go!
9. Unplug Everything!
Back to the mini fridge; yes, you should unplug everything!
10. Relax and enjoy it all!
