Why Winter Is My Least Favorite Season

Why Winter Is My Least Favorite Season

Being from New England I've dealt with a long and hard winter every year of my life and quite frankly I'm sick of it!

Here are a few reasons why:

1) Coats

No I'm not talking the Massachusetts favorite North Face Denali, I'm talking real winter coats. They are so puffy and uncomfortable, not to mention no one looks good in one. I will layer a million times before I put one on.

2) Driving

it is truly a talent to be able to drive in the snow. Personally, my Beetle and I like to stay put when it snows. If you have a truck you're extremely lucky because winter driving truly sucks!

3) Slush and ice

As a college student walking to class in the snow basically consists of me hoping not to fall in front of the line of cars waiting for me to cross. Facilities can shovel all they want but with the amount of students walking around in the snow the slush always comes back!

4) It's cold

Specifically, this winter which went from 60 to 0 real quick... But seriously you can layer as much as you want and you'll still be cold. Especially getting in the car, it takes forever to warm up! People with leather seats I feel for you!

5) It's so dark

If you have a late class or work past 4:30pm it looks like you get out in the middle of the night. Not to mention you look your palest for about 4 months.

6) I can't feel my face...

Seriously the wind is what kills you. If you're outside for long periods of time your face along with just about your whole body will be numb, I promise you that.

7) Everything takes longer

Everyone is driving slower because of the bad road conditions and maybe this is just me, but I walk much slower in the cold. Maybe I'm weird but I swear my muscles basically freeze.

8) Pumping gas

The worst 3 minutes of your life. You leave your warm car to spend money and freeze while you do it. What a great combo!!

9) Colds

Everyone is sick, literally everyone. If you're as lucky as I am and have a bad immune system prepared to have day time and night time cold medicine on hand at all times!

10) Hot coffee.

Being the New Englander that I am, I always drink iced coffee. Yes, of course from Dunkin' Donuts. I will drink iced coffee until I'm frozen solid. Hot coffee is one of my least favorite things in the world!

These are just a few of the million reasons why I hate the winter. Pray for us New Englanders until the sun shines again!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
