Winter Break has come to an end and here I am sitting at my computer, or laying in bed, thinking, "Where did four weeks go?" But let's think about it. Let's think about everything that you did in those four weeks. Did you enjoy it? Did you hate it?
I know that I can't tell if these were a great four weeks or if I had rather been at school for most if it, similar to how high school worked. There are reasons why I liked it.
1. I got to see my friends. Because even though you all go to college, and you make new friends, there is something comforting about the one's that you have always known.
2. I had some good family time. Yeah, they get on your nerves occasionally, but in the end, you know that they are the only ones that will love you unconditionally and will never tell your secrets.
3. I enjoyed home cooking. I don't even have words for it; it's good, it's free, and it's made with care.
4. I taught my old friends new tricks. The best part about coming home is sharing all your stories with your old school friends, like explaining how this drink made you feel or how gross one thing was. You talk about your roommates, the boys you've been with, and any other juicy details you couldn't say over the phone.
5. I had a part-time job. Sometimes if you are lucky, you can always go back to your old job and make a little bit of cash to bring back with you to college.
But even though there are some perks to being home, its also isn't the easiest thing. There are times when you'll sit at home and think to yourself, "What would I be doing if I were back in college?"
1. You get bored easily. There are only so many times you can do the same thing over and over. Sure, at first when you come home, it's great to relive a couple of memories, but at the same time, you get sick of eating the same diner food because its what you have been doing since you were young.
2. Most of your friends from college are either not home yet or they go back early. Being from a southern school, my break started early and ended earlier than most kids, so though I got to see them for a bit, they'll still be on break while I am well into my second semester.
3. They aren't all here. Most kids move away after there senior year, whether they were the youngest or they needed instate, but two of my closet friends won't be here whenever I come home, making the holidays more dull then they already were.
So don't take the days that you have for granted, because when you're in school, you'll wish you were on break, and when you're on break, you will wish that you were in school. Take each day that you have, and enjoy it. Know that no matter what you choose to do, you will be making the most out of where ever you are and enjoying every last minute of it.
