There are some days and holidays seasons when you are itching to get out of the house and explore.

You might book a last-minute flight across the country or take your friends on a hike. Then, there are those moments when you feel like staying at home.

Do you want to tell your co-workers that you actually interacted in a social way or managed to do more than sit in the dark watching old seasons of Friends?

Or, maybe that social pressure means nothing to you, and you just want to enjoy yourself without leaving the comforts of your very own home. That could mean that you just want to see your friends and never leaving your doorstep — a brilliant plan!

Either way, here I have some handy ideas that can make you feel like you've done something this vacation rather than loaf around and stare into the depths of your fridge once every hour.

Really, this is a guide for what I can actually doing rather than saying that I'm bored and then never leaving the house or doing anything interesting on breaks.

1. Have a movie marathon

Go ahead and invite some friends over and have a movie marathon. You can even make it a weekend-long event with your roommates or family members. Pick a long series (Star Wars for example) and make some snacks to enjoy during it all.

2. Host a potluck dinner party

Don't want to go outside for dinner because of the cold and the cost? Invite your loved ones over for dinner!

And make it a pot luck to minimize grocery shopping and so that everyone contributes to the feast.

3. Invite some pals over for a good old-fashioned sleepover

I am a huge proponent of sleepovers as friends. Adults de-value the importance of a good sleepover, and I think this comes from years of forced roommates situations because of college. However, the great fun of having your friends over with some video games, nail painting, and baking sounds absolutely wonderful!

4. Shoot your own episode of “Chopped”

Want to make dinner without the budget for a full six-course meal? Get your roommates together or call over a friends and find ingredients in your pantry and fridge. Put them out and randomly select some options in "baskets." Try and make some delicious meals out of them.

If you want to add an element of surprise and get a little creative, decide the baskets for your friend and have them do the same for you.

5. Have an arts and crafts night

If you don't already have some paint supplies lying around, they're quite cheap to get from a craft store. Bring over a couple guests and grab some snacks and have a paint night!

Hopefully some of these suggestions will give you ideas on what you can do this winter break so that you feel social and excited without ever leaving the comforts of your apartment. Even if you have the energy to get out, the weather can be miserable enough that you can't find yourself wanting to venture out in it. Regardless of the reason why, embrace the homebody life and relax with some of these activities.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and enjoys their time in which ever way they choose to. If everything else fails, Nickelodeon is getting onto Netflix. I know that I've already started Victorious and the holiday has barely started. Enjoy yourselves!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
