11 Reasons Why You're My Best Friend
Andrea Schelmety

When I think about how we became as close as we are, I can’t put my finger on one sole defining moment. I don’t remember when shy waves in the hallway turned to you shouting my name from the whole opposite side of the school. I don’t remember when sending me a text to see if I was busy changed to you inviting yourself over to my house, unannounced.

Despite not being able to pinpoint the exact moment where things changed between us, one thing I do know is that along the way, you became my best friend. And here are just a few of the reasons why!

There’s not a second spent together where we aren’t laughing.

Whether it’s us laughing about some inside joke from years ago or you telling me I look like Bruno Mars in my new hat I bought, you’re the only person that can bring out my truly goofy side no matter where we are.

You’re one of the very few people in my life that truly understands me.

Even when my own thoughts/feelings might not make sense to me, you’re somehow able to put things into perspective. You know me better than I know myself.

You’re the only person that will answer the phone for me no matter what time of the day it is.

More than half the time it’s just to spill some tea or to force you to keep me company on my drive home. But seriously though. You’re the only one. My mom doesn’t even answer my calls.

We can communicate just by eye contact.

It’s a skill. We have a whole other language made up of looks that only we understand.

You’re honest with me, even when the truth isn’t what I want to hear.

Whether it's about life, relationships, or even a new haircut, I can always count on you to tell me how it is.

We’ve been mistaken for a couple more times than we can count.

Let’s be honest. Uncle Phil is going to be so disappointed when he finds out we’re not getting married.

You listen to me go on and on about my love for Fifth Harmony.

I know you couldn’t care less about what they wore to the VMAs or what Lauren named her dog. (It was Leo, by the way.) But thank you for listening to my endless rants and allowing me to freak out in front of you.

You know when something’s wrong with me even before I do.

It’s like you have a sixth sense or something. It’s very strange.

Despite seeing me at my absolute worst, you’ve never given up on me. You made sure that I knew you always had my back.

You believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. You were there to remind me who I truly was when I became someone that I didn’t recognize.

When I think back on my favorite memories, the majority of them are spent with you.

Our little adventures into the city, road tripping halfway across the country, or even our Saturday morning breakfasts... there’s not a moment spent with you that I don’t cherish.

You’re my person.

There isn't one without the other. You’re my partner in crime. The peanut butter to my jelly. The Robin to my Batman. There’s no one I’d rather have by my side than you. I’ve always believed that in life, we get multiple soul mates. You’re the family that I got to choose, as cheesy as that might be. I wouldn’t trade you for the world. Thank you for being the best friend a girl could ever ask for. I love you.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
