Let's be honest, you spend more time with your work friends than your outside friends. You spend hours on end with them, complaining about work and trying to make the best of those eight hours. Unlike your other friends, you have a special bond with those that you work with.
You spend all of your time together
This is not an exaggeration, you really do spend most of your time with your coworkers. I work around 40 hours a week so I see the same people almost every single day. You always have something different to tell them about your day and how you have been.
Every shift is a venting session
During the busiest hours in the day, it is easy to hang around your coworkers and just vent about life. They know a lot of things about you and vice versa, and because you do not really have the same mutual friends outside of work, you know your secrets are safe with them.
They are the best support system
There have been a few times that I have basically broken down into tears at work because of personal issues, and my coworkers never hesitate to stop and help me. Your coworkers are the people who see you at your worst and do their best to help you because they know you need it.
You can complain about work together
Complaining about work to your outside friends does not quite feel the same as complaining to your work friends. Usually you can complain about why your boss is the worst and why that one costumer complained for no good reason. It is such a great stress relief getting all of your work complaints out to people who fully understand and feel the same way.
Your work friends have seen you at your most stressed AND they still love you
It is not a secret that any job can be stressful and somedays it just feels as though everything is falling down around you. Good news, your coworkers are usually in the same boat that you are and just as stressed. You all see the worst sides of each other when there is a line out the door and your manager is yelling about the same thing for the umpteenth time, but when all of the stress is done, you still love each other just the same.
They are perfect entertainment
Some days at work there is just nonstop laughter because your coworkers know just how to keep you entertained. You have a collection of inside jokes that are used frequently.
Sometimes they become more than just your work BFFs
If you get lucky like I did, you will find some of your closest friends while working. There is rarely a day that we either do not talk or spend time together. Your work friends have been there through your worst days and your happiest moments, they spend 40 hours a week with you and love you no matter what. It is even more special when you can move that bond outside of the workplace.
