Sometimes it's hard to leave your parents for college, and sometimes you are lucky enough to have a roommate that turns into your mom while you're away. You think of your roommate as your friend, but when you get down to it all they are really doing are the same things your mom did at home.
1. They wake you up in the morning
When your alarm goes off and you sleep through it, there's nothing better than hearing the melodious voice of your roommate telling you to get your butt out of bed. The best part is they also have class at 8am, so they understand how much you want to stay in bed but also how much you need to get up.
2. They tell you to go to bed
They know that you are going to sleep through your alarm and that they are going to have to be your mom and get you up in the morning if you do not go to sleep at a reasonable hour. And they want to avoid that.
3. They make you eat your vegetables
Your roommate knows how horrible the food options avaiable to you are. They also know how many times you have gotten late night Whataburger in the last week. They make sure that you know this and then make a promise with you that you are both going to eat healthy tomorrow.
4. They take care of you when you're sick
They very lovingly drive you to Panera to get you chicken soup, because they can't cook but they know where to get the good stuff. People will say that you are an adult and have reached the age where you can take care of yourself when you are sick, but it's still nice to have someone that will get you cough medicine because if they don't they will have to listen to you hacking all night.
5. They motivate you
Your roommate is your biggest cheerleader. They see you at your best and your worst and all they want is for you to succeed and for everyone else to get the chance to see all your amazing parts that only they know about. And you do the same for them.
