Why Your Hometown Friends Are Your Best Friends
Lauren Mullenbach

People are often really excited to dash off to college to meet to people and make new memories. No matter where you go or how far you travel, the people you created friendships with from your hometown are always going to be there. Hometown friends are loyal. Hometown friend are caring. The hometown friends that make you laugh like nobody else can and make you sob when you have to say goodbye. Here is why they are amazing:

1. You have amazing memories together.

From prom to dozens of sporting events, your hometown friends are the people in your memories that you will cherish forever.

2. They understand all the stuff that makes you, you.

They’ve seen you ugly cry about every aspect of your life. They know about breakups and makeups and the highs and lows of your life.

3. Their family is your family.

Having spent countless hours together in each others' homes, their family became your family over the years, and vice versa.

4. You survived high school together.

From crappy drama to homecoming week competitions, they were by your side for it all.

5. Whenever you see your hometown friends, it’s like no time has passed.

Friendships like this, they last a lifetime. It’s awesome to be with them and pick up exactly where you left off.

6. You can laugh at the same inside jokes.

Nobody understands why they are funny except you and your homies, and that makes them even funnier.

7. They know the quirks of your hometown.

Trying to explain things about your hometown to your college friends, well, they just don’t understand it like your squad at home does.

8. They have seen your awkward years.

Braces, acne, frizzy hair. Need I say more?

9. You’ve put millions of miles on the road together.

The late night drives that turned into McDonald’s runs and screaming to music with the windows rolled down are memories you will never forget and hope you can redo in summers at home to come.

10. Your friendships are proof that miles have nothing on you.

Distance between friends can be very difficult. It's hard to find time to line up schedules when you are so far away from your hometown friends. But, regardless, your hometown friends are incredibly loyal and trustworthy, as you try to be for them.

11. When you are with them, you are home.

After all these years, your friendship is still so strong. These people are so important to you, and no matter where you go in life- how far you travel and what you accomplish- you will always remember and know where home is.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
