Omega Phi Alpha is a service sorority dedicated to serve the university community, the community-at-large, the members of the sorority, and the nations of the world. Aside from service, this sisterhood does many other things. This organization is not panhellenic, but has many aspects that a social sorority would have. After making life long friends, and finding myself because of this amazing sorority, here is why you should join Omega Phi Alpha.

1. You learn what it means to be a volunteer

Being in a service sorority means doing service. After doing projects, you begin to see how volunteering affects other people, and it feels so good!

2. You meet amazing people

Being in an organization like Omega Phi Alpha, you meet a wide variety of different girls. They all have their own experiences, and they are all amazing in their own ways.

3. You learn professional skills

While most of the things we do are lots of fun, we also learn how to be professional. We meet on a weekly basis and even practice principals like Robert's Rules.

4. You can earn A LOT of service hours

Members in this organization are here to do service, so you end up gaining a ton of service hours!

5. You make best friends

6. You learn what having a sister is like

If you're like me, I grew up with brothers. I never knew what it was like to have a sister, but this organization teaches you the love of a sister.

7. You develop a sense of belonging within a group

8. You may meet your roommates

If you're lucky enough, you will meet your absolute best friends and hopefully have the chance to room together.

9. You will always have someone to go to

No matter what is going on in your life, you will always have a sister to go to when you need to vent or just want to hang out.

10. You get to make cute crafts

Crafting is so much fun, even if you're bad at it.

11. You have many opportunities to become a leader

Being in Omega Phi Alpha, there are so many opportunities to rise up and become a leader. This organization will teach you leadership.

12. You get to be part of a family

This group is a family. We all love each other, and I am so proud to me a member of Omega Phi Alpha.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
