Now I know I’m not the only one who enjoyed the past month of sleeping as much as humanly possible and not having to cook for myself. Or learn math and science. Or be required to do much more than shower and exist.
You may or may not be proud of how much Netflix you watched or how much Trivia Crack you played, but now its time to pull on your snow boots and get excited for all the great new stuff to come this semester.
1. All new classes. Remember that horrible history class that made you read four chapters a night and respond to everyone’s discussion posts? It's over. Remember that awkward kid in your lab group that always forgot to wear deodorant? The only time you’ll see them is in line at Chipotle. You have all new classes that are hopefully easy and interesting and won’t make you get up too early. Or at least the class is relevant and has some attractive classmates that will motivate you to show up to lecture.
2. Friends. I’m sure you had fun catching up with your friends who lived close over break. However, now you can go back to the beautiful people that you have more in common with than just playing on the same soccer team three years ago. And even better, all of your closest friends are back to being a fifteen minute walk away maximum.
3. Independence. Other than your class and work schedule, you can do anything you want with your time. Feel like going to the movies at 11am? Go ahead. Plans for an impromptu road trip? Have a blast. You aren’t held back by your sibling needing a car for track practice and your parents needing cars for work and errands.
4. New members. After the stressful and exciting formal recruitment is over you are left with an awesome new pledge class. Get excited to welcome them into one of the best parts of your college experience.
5. Basketball and hockey. As football season is finally coming to a close you can fully embrace these great sports. You have three months worth of college hockey games that you can go to for free and watch your favorite players literally beat people up on the ice. With basketball you have two months to catch your team’s important games before the glory of March Madness hits.
6. Spring break. Two months in the schoolwork becomes a drag and the snow just isn’t that pretty anymore. Thank goodness you get to gather your friends and head off to a beach for a week with maximum fun and minimal responsibilities.
7. Greek week. What is more fun than a little healthy competition with Greek games and weekday socials?
By now you should feel pretty pumped up. Other than maybe preschool, college is the most fun that school is going to be so get ready to make new friends and have adventures this semester!
