Food is Communion. Spend more money on food. Go out with friends. Capture the moment. Document, constantly. And take a visit to Asbury Park while you're at it.
I cannot begin to stress how important it is to spend money on food. The topic branches out to so much more than just satisfying your belly after a long day.
I mean, young adults these days rather procure some five dollar meal they snatched conveniently from a McDonalds drive-thru than actually sit down with some friends and foster genuine conversation in the atmosphere of a restaurant. This is mostly due to the high costs of food that restaurants charge. Understandable, but realize this.
Eating with another person is where relationships really begin and continue to blossom. Food is a universal piece of satisfaction. When you eat with others, you talk, you bond, you share laughs, you share stories, you constantly learn something new and you build and strengthen relationships. Humans, being the social animals they are use food as a mantelpiece to produce the the most wonderful product of life: a relationship with another human being.
To segue into my point, I just want to mention that food is an experience itself. It is intertwined with these little experiences that add up to compile the greatest gift that the universe has to offer us. And that is, genuine human interaction.
It is also a gift that us as humans have the ability to filter our minds. What I mean by this is that when you're out enjoying a meal with the people you love, you forgot for a while about your responsibilities. That history essay that's due tomorrow? How you have to get up for work at six in the morning the next day? These thoughts become a distant memory, and it's perfectly okay to not worry. Humans have the power to focus solely on the present and foster positivity through it. Living in the moment. That is the piece that fits so perfectly to continue to fill our lives to the brim with happiness.
So save those five dollars on that cheeseburger you're going to end up eating in your car in the McDonalds parking lot and save up a little more to spend at a restaurant with some of your favorite people; whether it be your parents or your best friends or that cute girl in your psychology class that you still haven't worked up the nerve to ask out. Also, check out the video up top that me and my good friend Amanda compiled at Asbury Park! We made it a goal to try a new place every time we spend time with each other, hitting over 30 hotspots in and out of the Jersey Shore. She's been my number one foodie pal since the day we met.
