I cannot even begin to explain how frustrating it is to hear men try to tell women who they are, what they should be, and what they can and cannot do. How would they know? Not to mention, every woman is different and capable of doing different things. But no matter how different we are, there is one thing that every woman has in common. We do what we want, we say what we feel, we wear whatever makes us feel like the powerful woman we are. Why? Because we can and trust us when we say that we do all of this for ourselves. We are not here to please you, to make you happy, or to satisfy your expectations.

This might come as a shock to you men, but it’s the truth. Our sole purpose, as women, is not to impress you.

“Then why do you wear makeup?” “Why do you spend hundreds of dollars on clothes?”

Because it makes us happy. It’s our way of expressing ourselves. It makes us feel beautiful.

“But you’d look so much prettier without all of that.”

I’m sorry, but did I ask? No.

I wear makeup because I’m insecure and wearing it makes me feel less insecure. And do you know why I feel insecure? It’s because you (men) have made it damn near impossible for a woman to feel beautiful just the way she is. And now that we (women) have grown more confident and empowered you feel as if you need to find a new way to put us down. So you criticize us and try to make us feel bad about ourselves, which sucks. That’s such a terrible thing for you to do, but we understand and we forgive you.

We’ve entered a new era folks, where women are powerful, strong, and not to be looked over. So as we enter and develop our society in this new era, let’s get rid of these outdated ideas where women are here simply to please the man. Because that’s not the case and I promise that the women of today will not put up with that kind of thinking.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
