The leaves are finally changing and beginning to fall, the weather has cooled off (well somewhat this year) and it’s time to gather with family and EAT. Thanksgiving is a day we all love because…
1. FAMILY
Whether you’re in college and happy to be at home again, or a family member who has driven hours just for this day, it feels good to feel comfortable and loved. You’re in a familiar place with those who know you best. You can catch up with everyone and really get into a conversation with those you haven’t seen lately. There is nothing better than being in a room where you know you are loved.
2. FOOD (Duh)
Your grandma brings her sweet potato casserole, your aunt makes pumpkin pie, and your parents slave over that turkey and dressing all day long. There are rolls and casseroles galore, and you have eaten healthy for a week because you know what this meal consists of. If you are in college, you especially enjoy a break from the Caf & lean cuisines. You just can’t beat a homemade meal.
3. NAP-FRIENDLY
Need I say more?
4. PROMOTES GRATITUDE
We all forget to step back and see how truly blessed we are. Odds are if you are reading this you are on your smartphone, computer, or Ipad. It’s easy to forget how many are in poverty, and how many do not get a special celebration on this day. Thanksgiving really helps us all remember how fortunate we are, and how truly great we have it.
5. LEFTOVERS
With all the food everyone brings, most prepare more than needed just to play it safe. With that being said, leftovers are good for the next week! And who doesn’t love thanksgiving leftovers?! Bring on the food am I right or am I right?!
Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family and friends. It is a time to step back and think about how fortunate we all are and how lucky we are to be able to celebrate this day with friends, family, and of course, food!
